Scott Miller has released snippets of the script for Prey written by Gary Whitta in a very infrequent manner. According to Miller, the script is dated to around 2004-2005 and is 90 pages long.
While the final story is present in the script pages, a few minor dialogue differences are present.

- I sense great change on the winds. I came to warn-
- TOMMY
- Save it, Grandfather. You know I don't go for that shit.
Tommy tries to move past Grandfather, but Grandfather blocks his path again, in Tommy's face. His voice changes, becoming more forceful, persistent.
- GRANDFATHER
- Listen Tommy. You cannot turn your back on your heritage any longer. It will give you strength.
- TOMMY
- For what?
- GRANDFATHER
- To save yourself. To survive.
- TOMMY
- Uh, thanks for the concern. But I don't need saving. Go home. I gotta help Jen close up.
- GRANDFATHER
- My place is here, by your side. You will have need of me this night.
- TOMMY
- Sure, whatever. Just try not to scare the customers, okay?
(Scripted sequence ends. Player now free to walk past Grandfather and enter into...)
INT. ROADHOUSE NIGHT
It's a dive bar. A cool, dark nest for career drinkers and other lost souls. Shafts of stark light from the streetlights outside break through the security bars on the windows, cutting through the gloom. Native-American noir.
Pages 1-3#
- CHUCK
- You hit like a squaw!
- CHUCK
- Now you really pissed me off!
After both Dalton and Chuck have had the crap kicked out of them with the wrench:
- JEN
- Tommy! Are you crazy? You could have killed them!
- TOMMY
- Maybe I should!
- JEN
- That's not what I meant! Tommy, did you have to-
Jen is cut short as the lights in the bar suddenly pulsate wildly, dimming and brightening. An ominous humming sound is heard as the lights continue to fluctuate and flicker.
- JEN
- What the...?
The TV set up in the corner of the bar which has been switched off this whole time -suddenly sparks into life. The image is a standard Emergency Alert System test card.
- TV VOICE
- (mid-sentence)
- -interrupt this program to activate the Emergency Alert System. Please stay tuned for important information.
The TV channel changes. The image is distorted and snowy with static, almost like it's being jammed.
-
CABLE NEWS ANCHOR
- And we're just now getting word that several similar objects are being sighted in the skies over North America. Now this is-
The TV goes to static, then dies out completely.
A tense, silent beat. And then the wolves howl ominously in the distance once again...
From outside, the wail of a CAR ALARM suddenly pierces the night. Tommy looks outside, to see:
A truck parked outside being pulled up into the air by a bright green tractor beam from overhead. The truck disappears out of sight...
...then suddenly slams through the ceiling of the bar, showering the bar with debris and dust.
- JEN
- (screams)
What the hell's happening?
And now, piece by piece, the entire roof is quickly sucked from the building. The wooden boards that make up the ceiling and roof bow upward and are pulled from the structure, disappearing into a hazy green light emanating from above...
...as a UFO descends from out of the light, hovering just a few feet over what's left of the building. The ominous humming we heard before now rises to a deafening level. And now other objects begin to levitate and are pulled up into the UFO beer bottles, glasses, barstools. A video poker machine is pulled up into the UFO.
- VIDEO POKER VOICE
- (aside)
Everyone's a winner!
- JEN
We've got to get out of here!
- TOMMY
- Enisi?
- GRANDFATHER
- (resolutely calm and quiet)
They come to cleanse the land of all living things.
A dazzling green light shafts down into the bar through the holes and cracks in the ceiling and walls. The high-pitched whine returns.. accompanied now by a deep bass rumbling as the entire building begins to shake. The green light narrows its focus and settles on Grandfather before pulling him up into the UFO.
- TOMMY
- Grandfather!
The beam that took grandfather now searches the room, finding...
Jen. She stands petrified in the beam's green glow.
Jen looks at Tommy, her eyes wide with fear. She tries to escape the beam, but it zaps her like a forcefield. Trapped.
Jen is pulled upward by the beam, into the heart of the UFO.
The beam now moves toward Tommy as two shimmering PORTALS open in the center of the room. Beyond it we can barely make out something hideously alien, biomechanical, dark.
From within the portals step two ALIEN HUNTERS. They stand in the half-light of the room, looking methodically left and right, silhouetted against the shimmering light of the portal behind him. A terrifying sight.
It is the last thing Tommy sees before he is captured by the searching beam. A massive rush of energy pulls him up into the belly of the UFO and we:
SHOCK CUT TO BLACK
OVER BLACK
The same hellish noises as in the opening scene. Alien machines. The cries and wails of terrified humans.
- JEN (O.S.)
- (Dear Ed: same line from FTA, no new content here. Love, Ed.)
- No! No, Tommy! Help me!
Once again we hear the WHOOSHING sound of Jen's slab being pulled up into the opening above, accompanied by the sound of Jen's screaming, which fades into silence.
Page 4#
As Tommy continues to follow the path of the conveyor slabs (fighting fodder aliens with his wrench along the way), Jen's track takes her through another orifice.
- GRANDFATHER
- Run Tommy! Get out of here! Find Jen!
- Jen and Grandfather are still attached to their slabs. There's nothing Tommy can do about this.
- JEN
- Tommy! Help me!
- Grandfather's slab now passes Tommy, on the other track.
The one leading toward the whirling mechanical blades up ahead that are slaughtering people methodically.
- TOMMY
- Oh my God. Enisi!
Grandfather's eyes snap open. He appears supremely calm, as though he has already seen his fate and is at peace with it.
- GRANDFATHER
- Tommy. You must go.
- TOMMY
- Hang on, I'll get you down.
- GRANDFATHER
- Go. Now! I shall await you... in the Land of the Ancients.
Grandfather's slab reaches the killing machine. The whirling blades slice into him mercilessly, spraying blood everywhere. Jen SCREAMS.
- TOMMY
- Grandfather!
- As Tommy's anguished cry echoes around the chamber, we:
SHOT CUT TO BLACK:

FADE IN: INT. ROADHOUSE NIGHT Some time later. The bar has been fixed up nicely and looks much like it did before the UFO attack. Tommy is working in the bar, cleaning up. Elhuit, still alive. From out of Tommy's site enters
SUPER TITLE: SIX WEEKS LATER
ELHUIT (Coyly) Are you still open?
- TOMMY
- Sorry. We're clos - Elhuit?
- ELHUIT
- Greetings, Tommy.
- TOMMY
- (taken aback)
- I thought you were dead! How did you escape?
- ELHUIT
- (smiles)
- The portal we built worked...but not the way we expected. I was rescued by powerful beings. They've taken notice of you and have sent me to find you.
- TOMMY
- What are you talking about? No one knows what I did up there.
- ELHUIT
- Not on this world, no, but your actions are well known elsewhere. These beings are very anxious to meet the Great Domasi Towodi. Let me introduce you. (alt. Great Tommy Towodi)
AND WITH THAT, A PORTAL BEHIND ELHUIT OPENS. BEYOND IT, A TANTALIZING GLIMPSE OF A WORLD WE'VE NEVER SEEN APPEARS... PERHAPS OUR FIRST PEEK AT WHAT AWAITS TOMMY IN PREY 2.
