Portal contains a lot of leaked sounds from its development. Like with most of the unused sounds in the final game, these leaked sounds are mostly cut dialogue from GLaDOS, but there are still some unique individual sounds worth noting. A lot of sounds from this point in development were left unused in the final game's files but also appeared in the asset leak.
Early Variations of Final GLaDOS Dialogue#
The early sounds files that were leaked, dating to December 2006, counting early and very different versions of some of GLaDOS' final dialogue.

First, however, note the glowing bars arranged horizontally across the exit. |
First, however, note the incandescent particle field across the exit. |
Earlier take on the line introducing the empancipation grid, GLaDOS refers to it as "glowing bars arranged horizontally" instead of an "incandescent particle field", likely referring to an older design for the emancipation grid.

A slightly older take of the completion line for Test Chamber 01, the completion quote for Chamber 01 was reused in the developer commentary to demonstrate how GLaDOS's AI voice was created.1

Caption: Please be advised that a noticeable taste of blood is not part of any test protocol but is an unintended side effect of the Aperture Science Material Emancipation Grill, which may, in semi- rare cases, emancipate dental fillings, crowns, tooth enamel, and teeth. |

GLaDOS's entry line for Test Chamber 02 has an old take of "but is an unintended side effect" in the asset files.

Well done! Remember: [garbled] (reversed: join us for testing). |
Well done! Remember: The Aperture Science Bring Your Daughter to Work Day is the perfect time to have her tested. |
Completion of Test Chamber 03 reminds of Aperture Science's gratitude towards participating test subjects (clean version seen as portal.bonus01_1 in the caption files), whereas the final version establishes Bring Your Daughter to Work Day.

Very impressive! Be warned, however, that c-[garbled]. |
Very impressive. Please note that any appearance of danger is merely a device to enhance your testing experience. |
Somewhat similar to the final line for completing Test Chamber 08, only GLaDOS tries to warn that complacency (clean version seen as portal.bonus02_1 in the caption files) can result in failure, rather than stating the purposes of appearances of danger.

The Device is now more valuable than the organs and combined incomes of everyone in [subject hometown here]. |
An older version for the completion quote for Test Chamber 11, GLaDOS refers to the protagonist's residence as "[subject home floor here]" instead of "[subject hometown here]".

Did you know you can donate one or all of your vital organs to the Aperture Science self esteem fund for girls? It's true! |
GLaDOS would've originally notified about Test Chamber 16 during the completion of Test Chamber 15, instead of at the very beginning of the former, these lines also appear to be from an earlier take due to how GLaDOS sounds more computerised compared to the final game.

However, it cannot accompany you for the rest of the test and, unfortunately, must be euthanized. |
GLaDOS telling Chell that she must incinerate the companion cube in Test Chamber 17, The line is mostly the same, apart from "come" instead of "accompany", and GLaDOS saying the cube will be euthanised, instead of that it must.

- "Creating the AI voice was a multi-step process. First, we ran every line of dialog through an automatic text-to-speech program. In the studio, we cued the actress who plays GLaDOS, Ellen McClane, with the computer-generated sound file. She'd mimic it, and then, over the course of several takes, adjust her performance to clean up any words that were unintelligible in the computer version. For instance, here's a line as Ellen delivered it:
. Once the recording was done, we processed all of the dialog to give it an extra computery edge. Here's that same line as it appears in the game, with the pitch constrained, pitch modulation suppressed, and the format moved up: - Erik Wolpaw. Source: Portal Developer Commentary.↩︎."
