Wings

Wings is an arcade flight simulator hailing to the days of old war movies, setting the player high above the trenches of World War I.

Cheat Modes#

On the Flight School menu, click on the little bullseye decal on the side of the plane graphic. It's a little fiddly to find the exact spot, but you'll know if you've got it right when the menu options briefly grey out and the "Do you want to quit" prompt pops up. (Say no, obviously.) This enables the ability to enter two special pilot names with cheat modes attached.

Super Pilot#

Create a pilot with the name Orca The Killer Tomato (case sensitive).

Orca doesn't need to go through Flight School, and has perfect stats.

Debug Prompts#

To do: Document effects - or lack thereof - more thoroughly

Create a pilot with the name Who is The Riddler (case sensitive with two spaces at the start!), then instead of pressing Enter to confirm, press ESC to cancel. This will bring up a lengthy series of yes/no prompts, some of which might even do something in the final version of the game.

• Skip 3D?: All of the 3D flight simulation missions end in failure about half a second after the silent-movie intro titlecard appears.
• Skip Bombing?: Ditto, but for the top-down bombing missions.
• Skip Strafing?: Same, but for the isometric strafing missions.
• Immortal?: Death doesn't kill you. It ends the mission in dismal failure, to be sure, but it won't cause a save-deleting Game Over.
• Never Fail?: Doesn't seem to do anything? Certainly doesn't effect failure caused by the Skip cheats above or dying, at any rate.
• Optional Save Game?:
• Get a Promotion?: After completing your next mission, you'll get an instant promotion.
• Win a Medal?: After completing your next mission, the game will try to award you a medal, but the cutscene will violently glitch out. Attempting to skip it will result in a Guru Meditation crash.
• Save Cheat Mode With Game?:
• Resurrect?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
• Win?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
• Max Squadron?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
• Max Current Pilot?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
• Enable Game Over?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
• Kill Current Pilot?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
• Save the Human Race?: Doesn't seem to do anything?
