Wheel of Fortune, 2nd Edition (PlayStation)

Wheel of Fortune, 2nd Edition is a much-updated followup to the original PlayStation game with behind-the-scenes features, a "career" option to track your total winnings and best games, and an entirely new set of puzzles.

And, of course, Pat Sajak continues to be AWOL.

Unused Categories#

This needs some investigation. Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page. Specifically: Same deal as before, as Vanna still reads the category names aloud.

As in the first PS1 game, there are category IDs that go completely unused but still have header images. Unusually, all of the images were updated to accommodate for the new display format.

0A: Fictional Place, unused in the first PS1 game and remains that way here.

0B: Place. Strangely, this is not only a duplicate of an earlier category that is used, but this slot was occupied by Places in the first PS1 game. A simple typo that was never caught, perhaps?

0D: Person/Title, a holdover from the first PS1 game and still unused.

14: Foreign Word, another holdover that's also unused.

17: Slang, yet another unused category from the first PS1 game.

1F: Proper Names, used only in the first PS1 game.

2A: Song/Artist, used only in the first PS1 game.

2F: Events, the only category introduced in this version that goes unused.

Unused Models#

L5_HMD.BF#

The "Winter Sports" theme has two props that aren't seen.

Unused Areas#

TEST#

TEST1.BF and TEST2.BF are unused themes with no scenery, containing only the puzzle board and wheel. Attempting to load it crashes the game.

Unused Video#

Present on the disc is VIDEOS/FINAL.STR, a video of some behind-the-scenes footage with various Wheel facts shown on-screen. Notably, one of the facts mentions original hostess Susan Stafford, who left the show in 1982 (with Vanna replacing her after a two-month series of auditions) and has rarely been mentioned by official Wheel media since.
