Ufo Robo Dangar is the third entry, as well as the first spin-off, in Nichibutsu's Cresta series. Think of it as Terra Cresta, but with a giant mecha (a la MagMax) instead of a ship.
Version Differences#
There are three distinct versions of the game: the Japanese version (with a build date of 9/26/1986), the original US version (with a build date of 12/1/1986), and the revised US version (with a build date of 4/9/1987).

The name entry's character limit was dropped from 10 to 3 in the US version, which also changes the high score list as a result. The positions of the rank, score, and name were adjusted as well.
In the Japanese version, the list lists the game's staff members, whereas in the US version it lists the game's company and name.
Continue?#
The revised US version introduces a new feature: (Limited) Continues! The other versions uses the classic old method: Last life lost = Game Over and restart the game back from the beginning.

The amount of continues can be changed in the DIP Switches from a minimum of none to a maximum of 99 times. The one written in bold is the default option in MAME.
