Moon Cresta (Arcade)

This needs some investigation.

Moon Cresta is basically Nichibutsu's response to Galaxian.

It also promises fun and thrill!

Version Differences#

Specifically: Sprite differences and probably more.

Main Versions#

Three distinct version of the game exist: the Japanese/European version, the North American version licensed to Gremlin, and another North American version licensed to Centuri, which features some graphical changes.

Title Screen#

Japan/Europe

US (Gremlin)

US (Centuri)

I'm pretty sure there's a small chance I can make it.

The Gremlin version replaces the exciting "TRY IT NOW !! YOU CAN GET A LOT OF FUN AND THRILL" message with a more serious (but heroic) "CAN YOU SURVIVE THE LAST INVASION?". It also replaces the Nichibutsu logo with its own logo and ousts the Nihon Bussan credit.

The Centuri version also replaces the Nichibutsu logo and ousts the Nihon Bussan credit, but retains the exciting message from the original.

Other Versions#

Although the above three versions are the main versions released in the arcades, there are two other official versions present in MAME.

US (Nichibutsu)

UK (Nichibutsu)

  • One is a third North American version, having the same title screen as the Japanese/European ones with a slight difference: the Nichibutsu logo has "USA" added. It's possible they wanted to publish the game themselves at one point before striking a deal with Gremlin and Centuri.
  • The other one is a British version, which has an identical title screen with a "Nichibutsu UK Co. Ltd." credit.

Both versions play the same as the Japanese and European ones.
