Trinity Universe

Unused Graphics#

Because of an oversight from the Japanese version of Hyperdimension Neptunia, some original files from Trinity Universe were leftover including graphics that aren't present in any of the versions in the game normally.

They have unique filenames and are in formats usually used in the development of the game

TriUni_GameCommon.png
GameCommon.psd is one of the many HUD containing photoshop files. The image shows early images of the day and night cycle icons, an early "NEW" icon and three gold titles that don't match the ones that exist in the game. The "CLEAR BONUS" title is a modified version of the Cross Edge version, but with a different font color and a golden bar behind. The Kanji icons are also white, with a brownish outline instead of the varying colors (for example: Tuesday is yellow, Wednesday blue, which are based on the kanji meanings) in the final game.

TriUni_GameHelp.png
GameHelp.psd includes some button icons. Some of them like the stick with no letter aren't used. The more interesting part are the arrow icons, which don't appear at all in the game.

TriUni_GameNum.png
GameNum.psd includes the special fonts. Some graphics are never visible in the game normally (like the plus minus symbol) unless you hack it.

TriUni_shli_light2.png
shli_light.psd is a light effect for the level up(s) in the game. This might be an early version, but it's not fully verified.

Unused Sounds#

0025.adx in the bgm folder of the game has the normal ending track (called The Last Epilogue in the official OST). While the track itself is used in the endings, the game never uses the adx as the videos already have the track embedded, so the file technically goes unused.

A longer version of the sleep jingle can be found in the voice folder that's 5 seconds longer than the normal version. This version is never heard in the game as the short version is the one that always plays when you rest in the inn. This sound presumably seems to originally be from Mist of Chaos, where this uncut version of the sound plays.

Debug Menu#

In contents\data\text\main.DAT, the file has some strings referencing to a debug menu and a variable related to it.

Strings#

//デバッグ用
90000001:Test;
90000002:Real;

// 90000000~デバッグ用
90000001:↑↓:Change Unit ←→:Change Motion Decide:Start Rumbling Back:Start Rumbling △:Pause Rumbling START:End;

The last line of strings seems to suggest some sort of controller vibration test.

Unused Events#

'...But what does it mean?'
This game has text or audio that needs to be translated. If you are fluent with this language, please read our translation guidelines and then submit a translation!

There are nine unused events located in contents\data\script\event. Most of these events are a look into an earlier state of the game, with unused faces and code that just outright crash the game.

7001 (English Version)#

This is the only event that is used in the promotional material of the game, that can be found in the game files in the US/EU version.

The official US trailer

The music played in the official video is COSMOLAGOON (aka the game's main theme and opening), but here it plays the track 0030.adx (Strained Dictator in the official OST). No idea why they couldn't just put the right track playing in the game itself or they just chose this for whatever reason.

7001 (Japanese Version)#

Found in the Japanese Version (obviously)

Unlike the English version. This one does not relate to the Japanese trailer of the game albeit it does have a similar purpose of introducing the characters. These character introduction events are 7001, 7002, 7003 (others than 7001 can be found in the other versions). 7004-7007 aren't noteworthy as they're all repeats of 7003. Also it's worth noting, that Prinny, Flonne, and Pamela do not appear in any of these events.

Freezes the console/emulator once Etna appears (I guess she's just too strong for the game to handle!)

7002 And 7003#

Freezes at the very end

This is the only one that doesn't freeze. Rizelea uses an unused happy expression at 1:40 and a surprised open mouth expression at 2:09. Another unused happy expression is used by Violet (or Viorate) at 0:22.

Placeholder Events#

These events are very short, so they're grouped all into a single video. There's 3 of them, those are 1083, 1099, and 2082. The first two have the numbers 1012 and 1006. The third seems to be text relating to the opening.

No idea what they're supposed to mean, especially the numbers.

Miscellaneous Events#

This includes events 0001 and 3001. These have a blank background with the event UI being mostly gone as well.

The voicelines don't match the text even in the JP version. All of the voicelines in the event are from Kanata. The text itself seems to have a part of the script of Kanata's opening along with its voicelines (both in JP and EN), but later shifts to Etna's own events from Cross Edge. This, like the unused graphics also suggests, that Cross Edge was used as base for this game.

This event seems to be fully unique, with lines from different characters. Unlike 0001, some of the voicelines do match the text, but this one will softlock the game as the event never ends.
