Hidden Blocks

This is a sub-page of TrackMania (2003).

This game has blocks that are hidden from the normal editor.
Some blocks are hidden, because they are used internally, like clips, frontiers, pylons and pillars.
However there exist other blocks that are completely unused/unseen, but they are still loaded in game mainly for backwards compatibility with older tracks that still potentially used them.

Terminology#

Please check the Terminology first, in order to fully understand the context of some of these blocks.

Speed (Desert)#

SpeedGarageAir#

"SpeedGarageAir" is a hidden block for the "Speed" (Desert) environment. It's a big, concrete platform that can only be placed in the air. The block is 3x3 units big (96m x 96m) and it generates pylons on each corner of the model.
This block would later be completely removed in TrackMania Original.

SpeedBiSlope#

There are 3 seemingly fully finished slope road blocks for the Desert environment: SpeedBiSlopeStart, SpeedBiSlopeStraight and SpeedBiSlopeEnd. It is currently unknown why they were hidden in the first place.
The blocks would only be available later in TrackMania United Forever.

SpeedPylon (Classic)#

In the game files for the "Speed" environment, there can be found "SpeedPylon.TMEDClassic.Gbx" file.
Not to be confused with "SpeedPylon.TMEDPylon.Gbx", this block appears to be just the pylon model, but as a "Classic" block instead of "Pylon".
What's more weird, is the fact, that this block doesn't even have a collection or an author assigned to it, so it's not even loaded into the "Speed" collection.

To do:

  • add a screenshot

SpeedCliffRoad & SpeedCliffRoad2#

In TrackMania: Power Up!, there are two unused variants of the SpeedCliffRoad blocks.
In-game, only SpeedCliffRoad3 is available in the editor. The first block can be seen on some early pre-release screenshots for the first game.

*Blocks on the left and in the center are unused, the one on the right is not

SpeedPipelineRoadClip#

While this clip is technically used by SpeedPipelineRoad, it cannot be seen in-game, due to the road not placing the clip models.
Only "Classic" blocks actually place clips on the track.

Alpine (Snow)#

AlpineMetalTubeStraight & AlpineMetalTubeCorner#

These blocks are regular "Alpine" (Snow) tube blocks, but as separate "Classic" pieces instead of "Road". They were most likely hidden when the "Road" variant of the tube block was made, making them obsolete.

AlpineSnowRoadClip#

Same case like with SpeedPipelineRoadClip. Only used by AlpineSnowRoad, but not used by any "Classic" elements.

AlpineRoadWoodTiltClipLeft & AlpineRoadWoodTiltClipRight#

These clips were originally supposed to be used with AlpineRoadWoodTilt blocks, however because the game doesn't support asymmetrical clips, it's impossible to connect these together.
