Thankfully based off the actual ride rather than the terrible 2003 movie, The Haunted Mansion is a surprisingly decent Luigi's Mansion clone with some pretty good atmosphere.

Level Select#

During gameplay, hold Right on the D-Pad, then enter one of the below codes (depending on platform) to add a level select to the pause menu.

GameCube

X, X, B, Y, Y, B, X, A

PlayStation 2

Circle, Circle, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Square, Circle, X

Xbox

B, B, X, Y, Y, X, B, A

The way the level select is set up suggests that the rooms were to be visited in a different order as the Toy Room is normally visited after the Trophy Room, the Children's Room is visited after the Museum, and the Gallery is visited before the Observatory.

Developer Codes#

In addition to the three cheat codes the game reveals to you upon defeating the final boss on Nightmare difficulty (Upgrade Weapon, Invulnerability, and Level Select), there are an additional three that aren't mentioned at all. These codes don't work on the JP release of the game -- instead, the cheat code activation sound plays without the cheat going into effect.

Toggle Lights#

During gameplay, hold Right on the D-Pad, then enter one of the below codes (depending on platform) to toggle the room lights and state from On to Off or Off to On. This code resets all room events but does not cause consumables or Shriveled Souls to respawn. This code only works if the active instance of the room hasn't been lit up. If this is the case, simply reloading the room by selecting it via Level Select or leaving and re-entering will allow the code to work.

Collect Shriveled Souls#

During gameplay, hold Right on the D-Pad, then enter one of the below codes (depending on platform) to collect all Shriveled Souls in the current room. This code will only work if the room's lights have been turned on.

Camera Toggle#

During gameplay, hold Right on the D-Pad, then enter one of the below codes (depending on platform) to invert the way the camera functions. Holding Y (on Xbox or GameCube) or Triangle (on PlayStation 2) will zoom the camera in on Zeke in a pseudo-first-person camera angle and lock him in place to let you look around. When this code is active, the camera goes to this position by default without locking player movement. Holding the Y or Triangle button while the code is active restores the standard camera functionality. This code can be seen in the game's demo sequences that play after idling on the title screen.

Easter Egg#

Watch on YouTubeIn the ballroom after the lights are turned on an Easter Egg is visible if the player stands in the middle of the room facing the organ, switches to first person view and looks at a balcony at the top of the right wall. After waiting a short while a photo of two people will move across the balcony. The image depicts, from left to right, Sean Riley and Josh Bear who both worked on the game as designers, edited to be sitting in a "Doom Buggy" from the ride. The image's filename is SEANJOSH.TM2.
