A prototype palette that originates as far back as the v0.02 prototype still exists in both acts in the present, with a slightly altered background color, alongside the corresponding palette cycling data.

An unused waterfall effect from way early in development (called "taki" in the symbol data from the Sonic Gems Collection version, which translates to "waterfall"). The splash graphics are not loaded into VRAM, and the block ID written as it moves down doesn't fit in with the final block set, so it appears corrupted.
