The NES sequel to the original Skate or Die is notable for featuring a story mode, digitized speech, a kicking soundtrack by C64 legend Rob Hubbard, and a love interest whose face appears to have been directly traced off a frame of Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid. It's a wonder nobody sued.

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. |
Secret Message#
There is a cheat for displaying a secret message on the title screen. It should be enabled by holding Left + Down + Start on controller 2 before reset; however, it fails due to some control input procedure changes, which require at least two reads before actual data is written to the corresponding variables. On boot, while the title screen is drawn, only one read is performed, so the cheat never triggers.
The Game Genie code AEKPXYYE will show this message ("CARL ME®") on the title screen without pressing any buttons.
Carl Mey is listed in the credits under "additional programming".
Unused Music#
This high-octane track appears to go unused. It borrows a bit from the Stage 4 theme, so it may have been intended for the battle with Icepick at the end.
Level Select#
Start up Adventure mode, and once inside, press Start, A, Select, B on the second controller, followed by one of these buttons to warp to that level:
- Right – Shopping Mall
- Left – Beach
- Up – Plant
Unknown Debug Leftovers#
During level 3 in Adventure mode, press Start on controller 2 to refresh some internal arrays at $0412 and $046C according to values in $0540-$054F.
