Silent Scope (Dreamcast, PlayStation 2)

Silent Scope is a game about shooting terrorists and leering at women. What more could a guy ask for?

Regional Differences#

Options and Censorship#

To do:
Check the PAL Dreamcast version and see if there're any differences there.

The Japanese and European versions feature options to adjust the game's violence and sexual content levels, whereas the US versions are locked into specific configurations, with the options removed from the menu. In the US, Violence is set to Mild and Sexual Content is set to Normal. The Japanese versions also feature an exclusive "Time Limit" option in the Game Config menu, which can add 0, 10, or 20 seconds to your starting timer on each Credit. The European versions feature an exclusive "Language" option in the System Config menu.

The Options menu has some other minor tweaks between regions and versions, with the 'Memory Card' menu being renamed 'Save & Load' in the Japanese and European PS2 versions, and "START BUTTON TO EXIT" being drawn differently in the Japanese versions compared to the US and European ones.

Violent Mode#

To do:
I'm not actually sure if this affects anything else, the skull and the blood are the only things I remember missing from the Arcade version when I played on PS2, and the Blood's just a setting that's present in the US version

To do:
Add a cheat code for the Dreamcast version.

As mentioned above, the US version removes the "Violent Mode" option, which enables/disables the cratered skull graphic when killing a boss with a headshot. In both US versions, this is set to "Mild", but can be reenabled with the code below-

Strong

Mild

Dreamcast

PlayStation 2

Enable Violent Mode TODO

Enable Violent Mode 20285768 00000001

207FBF64 00000001

Saving the game with this code enabled will keep the setting enabled for future play sessions, with or without the code.

Sexual Content#

To do:
Add a cheat code for the Dreamcast version.

As mentioned above, the US version removes the "Sexual Content" option, which changes the appearances of the Bonus Girls to wear less revealing outfits. In both US versions, this is set to "Normal", meaning they removed the option to put more clothes on the Bonus Girls. It can be disabled in the US versions with the code below:

Normal

Mild

Dreamcast

PlayStation 2

Disable Sexual Content TODO

Disable Sexual Content 20285770 00000001

207FBFFC 00000001

Saving the game with this code enabled will keep the setting enabled for future play sessions, with or without the code.

Unused Text#

To do:
Check this on Dreamcast

All of the PS2 releases contain all six languages regardless of region, despite the Language option only being available in the European versions (And even there, Japanese isn't selectable). To change your game's language, apply the below cheat for your region, replacing the X with the language you want to switch to, then open the Options menu and press Start to confirm settings changes. As with the above codes, saving the game after using this cheat will save the cheat to your memory card.

Night Mode Bright#

The Arcade version's "Night Mode Bright" option is leftover in the PS2 port, allowing you to set the base brightness of 'Night' scenes. This setting can be temporarily modified with the top line of the below RAW code, while the bottom line will save the setting to your Memory Card, just replace XX with the desired brightness level.
