This is a sub-page of Sam & Max Save the World.

Unused Dialogue#

Any spelling errors in the subtitles are left as-is. Dialogue in blue is only present in the GameTap version of the game. These lines are not present in the english.langdb subtitles file.

Episode 1 Holdover Lines#

These lines were recorded much later than the rest of the lines in Culture Shock. It appears that they were meant to be inserted back into that episode at some point, though the presence of a temp voice actor for Max might have hampered that.

Sam

It's our office. Hi office! Do you miss us?

Clicking on the office's open window from the Streets would produce this line.

37327488

Sam

Alley of Perpetual Darkness.

37335680

Max

Darkness, next 20 feet.

There's an Alley of Perpetual Darkness sign in the Asylum exterior, but in the released episode, it can't be clicked on. Or upon.

37331200

Sam

I don't remember seeing that van around here before.

37331328

Sam

That must be Whizzer's delivery truck. Securely locked, unfortunately.

Two lines for clicking on the van, depending on whether or not Sam & Max have met Whizzer yet. The line used in the actual episode is the rather nondescript "Hmmmm..."

37332608

Sam

I wonder if this bowling ball would slow Whizzer down.

37332736

Max

Nah, it's not slowing you down any!

37332864

Sam

Good point.

An extra, unique response for trying to put the Bowling Ball in Whizzer's crate.

Eat lead, COPPER!

Four more responses for shooting out of the open window. Only one response made it into the final game.

Unused response for choosing "Nowhere" after clicking on the DeSoto. Hm.

Max

I don't even have pockets!

Five of Max's conversation choices were cut in the final game. Here's the first one, where Max accidentally emphasizes "have" instead of "pockets".

ESPECIALLY Vatican spokesperson, I'd say.

An unused retort for Max after Sybil's line, "Publishing the "Alien Love Triangle Times" is a logical extension of all my previous careers. Except maybe Vatican spokesperson..."

35026048

Sam

Do you believe in life "out there"?

35266432

Max

Common sense and television tell me we are not alone.

A Max conversation choice that got cut. It's about aliens.

36357248

Sam

What do aliens look like?

36357376

Max

I think they're like sociopaths -- they look just like you and me.

36357504

Sam

Are you implying that we're sociopaths?

36357632

Max

Are you implying that we're not?

Another Max conversation choice, probably meant to be triggered after the previous one.

Sam

What've you got? A secret door? A tunnel?

An orphaned line from a cut conversation with the director, once again asking how she's able to move around so quickly. The director's reply doesn't seem to be in the game anymore.

35238400

Sam

Hi, Carleton, could you check to see if there's a taxi waiting out front?

35238528

Featherly

My name is not "Carleton", and don't be ridiculous.

Fun with intercoms. Speaking into the intercom while the show isn't taping should produce this conversation, but instead, Sam just says "Hello-o?" to no one.

35238784

Featherly

Will you kindly stop that? I'm trying to get into character back here.

Naturally, trying to do that more than once would anger poor Featherly.

35341568

Sam

I'm frankly a little baffled by this whole sitcom business.

35341696

Max

I think we're doing OK -- we just need to put all the pieces together.

A less than helpful (but reassuring) hint from Max on solving the Midtown Cowboys puzzle.

Peepers

Waaaah!

This 27 second clip of Peepers making various yelps and moans probably wasn't meant to be in the game's files at all, but there it is. Listen...and enjoy.

35280256

Specs

I already said I'm voting for you. What more could you want?

Trying to bribe Specs with food stamps after winning his vote would produce this line...but to get his vote, you need to trade the food stamps in for the voice modulator. What a shame!

Hugh

What is the answer to the question AFTER this one?

36730496

Hugh

What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

36904832

Hugh

In what quantum state do the leptons emitted by binary pole stars located near black holes typically emerge?

36905984

Hugh

Explain the popularity of the pet rock.

Four unused game show questions, plus a Holy Grail reference. Dare you to answer all four?

34775040

Sam

You're under arrest?

A rather weak threat from Sam to Myra. Myra's response doesn't seem to exist in the game's files.

36040448

Sam

So, to recap: I now suspect Myra Stump may, herself, have been hypnotized by person or persons unknown.

36040576

Max

Oo! I hate those guys!

There are three conversations with Max on whether or not Myra is hypnotized. The final conversation is the one that got cut.

Sam

I don't think she'll be interested.

A catch-all for trying to use a generic item on Myra. At this point in the game, every item you could possibly have produces a unique response, so this line can't be triggered.

obj_cardquestion_english

There are questions on the back of the trivia card questions, but the cards are never seen from the back.

A hand-drawn picture of Hugh Bliss. Might have been meant for the otherwise blank host podium in Who's Never Going to be a Millionaire?

Episode 2

Episode 3

An earlier version of the Whack-Da-Ratz texture can be found in the GameTap and Steam versions of the game. The early texture is missing the "Hit 20 to win!" text.

Obscured Textures#

env_tvsitcomidolbackdrop

This texture is used in the Midtown Cowboys set, but the right side of the texture is obscured.

This shows a notably different version of the Embarassing Idol set, with the giant acid pit originally being a pile of wooden boards.

obj_tabloidb

The back part of Alien Love Triangle Times is on Sybil's desk, but at the resolution it is in the game, it's completely illegible.

obj_tvcoffeecupb

This coffee cup is briefly seen in the intro to the Myra set, but it's never shown close enough to actually make out the text.

obj_cameraa

There is Russian text present when translated reads "Sputnik/Satellite" which is a reference to the first man made satellite. (Credit goes to "The Super Secret Sam & Max Club" Discord server.)

Hidden Hotspot#

When you use a widescreen hack during the Myra show part, you can see the characters you can call over on the show standing off the screen where they wouldn't be seen in the game's typical 4:3 resolution. Clicking any of these characters offscreen will give the generic no comment message Sam says.
