This is a sub-page of Rock Band (PlayStation 2).
One of the unused scripts, songs/songs_debug.dta, features song definitions for testing and prototype songs. These consist of generic tests, songs that weren't yet finished, or real songs that wouldn't make it onto Rock Band's on-disc setlist. Some of these songs would later be released as DLC (in some cases, as late as Rock Band 4), while others would never see a release for the game at all.
All that remains of these songs is metadata. There are no charts or audio for any of these songs featured in any final build of the game.
Songs in Progress#
One song, Fall Out Boy's "Dead on Arrival", is marked as a "song in progess" [sic] and appears at the very top of the file. The song's proper song definition appears in songs.dta with the rest of the metadata for the setlist. Aside from the preview times, instrument ranking, and extra channels in the song audio (to aid in load times, Rock Band on the PS2 often featured mono versions of stereo instrument tracks), it appears to match the used song definition.

)Other Test Songs#
Next in the file comes various generic testing songs, some for venue effects, some for character animations, and others for chart features like sustains and fast notes. These are credited to made up bands or no artist at all.
A few of the song definitions have an xvocab file, cherrylips.xvocab, specified but commented out. "Cherry Lips" is a song by the band Garbage that appeared in Harmonix's Amplitude four years prior to the release of Rock Band. Later references and even snippets of audio from the song have appeared in Rock Band 2 and Lego Rock Band, suggesting Harmonix had continued to test internally using it, despite it never being released as a proper Rock Band song, DLC or otherwise.
Some of the test songs appear to date to much earlier in development than others. Guitar Hero II, which Rock Band was based on, used a quickplay array in each song definition to load a different venue, guitarist, and guitar per song. Rock Band final doesn't feature this on any console, yet some of the song definitions have quickplay arrays.
Special note should be paid to worstcase, a stress test song that appears unused in the game files of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. (worstcase itself doesn't appear in the PS2 files.) The song as it appears in the files uses an otherwise-unused cover of "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who for audio; this definition uses the audio for "Won't Get Fooled Again", also by The Who, which is playable as a proper song in-game.
Finally, there are a group of songs marked as "Download Test Song", each with one of the respective four instruments not appearing. Ostensibly, this was used to test the game's DLC platform and how songs with missing instrument parts would appear to players on various instruments.

songs_debug.dta features 15 song definitions for real songs Harmonix had slated for Rock Band but ultimately didn't include. 13 of these are listed under "prototype songs". (The other two are covered in the next section.)
Some of these songs would appear in later Rock Band titles, as DLC, or in Rock Band's successor Fortnite Festival. Others never appeared in any Rock Band game. Here's a chart of all 15 songs and their eventual fates:

Rock Band introduced a feature known as a "big rock ending", where players are encouraged to slam on their instruments during a outro crescendo for bonus points, so long as they hit the notes after the BRE. Six extra songs were used to test BREs, four duplicates of the prototype songs and two additional songs ("Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love" and "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)"), both of which were later released for the series. (Both songs do feature BREs in their final versions.)
