This is a sub-page of Robopon Sun, Star, and Moon Versions.
Regional Differences#
Copyright Screen#
The English version added two unique screens to denote that Atlus published the North American release. The first screen is placed after the Hudson Soft logo, and the second right before the title screen appears.
Title Screen#
The title screen had its logo changed, subtitle re-centered, and its copyright info updated and expanded. The flying suns and stars also had their palette changed from yellow to red.

Super Game Boy Borders#
The SGB borders had the very generic "ROBOT PONCOTS" title changed to a more stylized "ROBO PON".

Schedule Panels#
The Japanese version of the Schedule Panel interface uses the kanji 時 (ji) to denote that the numbers listed are hours. The English version left that spot vacant, which leaves this screen's purpose more confusing for those who don't have access to the game's manual.

Region Map#
The region map had its landmark window widened by three tiles, which obscures some of Bird Island's eastern shores.

Overworld Objects#
While all GBC Robopon releases in Japan only used one color for their overworld sprites, the North American release added seven additional spriteset colors. This was done by overwriting seemingly unused palette values, which allowed for more visual variety, and brought the game closer to mainline Generation II Pokémon games, as well as Hudson Soft's very own Pokémon TCG games.
This change also affects the menu icons from the party screen, which got a different set of colors (the Japanese version merely reusing the data from the background palettes). However, the "Jumper" battle type was not updated, and all sprites will use the default burgundy palette.

Trainer Sprites#
The English version gave updated, more colorful battle sprites to Cody and all of the 7 Legends. These new sprites didn't overwrite the old ones, rather, the originals are still used in the Super Game Boy mode.

Robopon Sprites#
For the English version, several Robopon had their designs changed due to Nintendo of America's censorship policies. These include the removal of religious imagery, of the Red Cross symbol (which is copyrighted), and of vulgarity (phalic depictions, butts, and farting).

Completion Reward#
In the North American release, the "Robopon Data" tab (this game's Pokédex equivalent) had its behavior tweaked slightly. The entries were made to stop at 153 (Scar), as opposed to the original 168 (Volco), which removes all the Moon-exclusive Robopon. Despite this, the "Found" counter will still increment as intended if the player manages to see more than 153 distinct Robopon.
Granpda Hoggle's rewards for completing the "Robodex" were also changed. Originally, he handed out the Silver Trophy if the player catched Robopon n°001 through 150, and the Gold Trophy for catching every Robopon (up to 168). In the English version meanwhile, the Gold Trophy replaces the Silver one in terms of requirement, with no reward being given for completing the Robopon Data tab. This leaves the Silver Trophy completely unused, while the Gold one is technically unobtainable due to Star never being released officially.
Robopon 64#
The Japanese versions can connect with the Japan-exclusive Robopon 64. Needless to say, the game was not released in North America, thus making that functionality inaccessible.
GB Kiss#
A GB Kiss option is available on the main menu in the Japanese version, allowing players to write and receive letters. However, the functionality was largely removed from the North American version, leaving only the Robopon sending feature, as an option on the company assistant's "Communication" screen. Some untranslated text strings encoded with Shift-JIS remain, however, at 7E7 and CAE.
