Arcade Leftovers#
The files T_RATING.BIN and T_NTC_O.BIN in the folder TIM are leftover screen graphics from the original arcade release.
In the Japanese releases, there is also an additional folder in TIM titled TRASH, which contains more leftovers from the arcade release.

Unused Loading Screens#
Many of the 3D renders used later for the unlockable Art Gallery were previously intended to appear on loading screens, similar to the ones seen in Raystorm. However, in the final game no such loading screen was implemented, and instead the tunnel transitions between levels from the arcade version were simply given a makeover and act as background loading zones. Thus, these textures go unused. A fifth loading screen with no level theme, created for generic use, is still used when loading the art gallery.

Unused Score Bonus Text#
The HUD texture has an extra score notification for "MAXIMAM LOCK". It's not clear if this was for landing every single lock-on laser in the ammo pool, hitting a single enemy with the max lasers for its remaining health, or if this is an earlier name for the Hyper Laser, though probably the most former of the three.
Parts of this texture which appear on the leaderboard are altered in the English localization of the game, see below.

Regional/Version Differences#
Gameplay#
- In the Working Designs version, using a continue does not reset your score, and the difficulty is set to Easy by default.
Language#
- The boss of the Emotion Part, known as Sem-Slut in the original Japanese release, had its name changed to Sem-Strut in the North American release and Sem-Slim in the European release.
- The localization changes some English sentences from the original Japanese game to be more grammatically correct. For example, the loading screen in between stages:
Japan |
US/Europe |
|---|---|
- The tagline on the leaderboard was changed from "YOU MUST CHOOSE NOW THE COURSE OF YOUR FUTURE" to "YOU MUST NOW CHOOSE THE COURSE OF YOUR FUTURE".

Options Menu#
- The Japanese and North American PlayStation releases have PocketStation support, used to download a game titled PocketRay. This feature is not present in the European version.
- In the original Japanese PlayStation release, there is a digital manual accessible by the image gallery which is absent from the localizations, as well as the Windows release. This is also reflected in the menu selection:
