Present in both versions (0x97E2E in US version, 0x97FEF in Japanese version):
STARTING STAGEThis is located alongside strings for "1 PLAYER", "2 PLAYERS", and "CONFIGURATION", suggesting it was meant to appear on the title screen alongside those, but no routine is present to load this string (see the Notes page for more).

The US version removes the ability to set the number of continues (the Japanese version allowed for 0-3, with 3 being the default), instead giving just one continue in a 1P game and none in a 2P game.
Bug Fixes#
Two bugs were fixed in the US version:
- At the end of a stage, when the player's ship starts automatically moving towards the center of the screen, it is still possible to take damage.
- In a 2P game, even if one player has received a Game Over, they will still be awarded bonus points at the end of each stage.
