Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom is a cute adventure game starring a cucumber knight and his klutzy persimmon page on a quest that probably involves a princess of some sort. It's an adaptation of the PC-98 game of the same (Japanese) name.

Debug Password#
Entering たたかい (Japan) or GG62 (US) as a password will take you to a looping rock-paper-scissors mini-game. The only way out of it is to reset. たたかい means "battle" in Japanese.

Unused Graphics#
Located near the title screen graphics. Judging by their arrangement, they were most likely supposed to spell out "FILE".
Leftover Kanji symbols from the Japanese version. Not used in the US version for obvious reasons.
Unused Text#
A curious string is present near the end of the ROM at 0x3FFF0 in both versions. For some reason, this text was changed in the US version.

Chapter 1#
In the area beyond the fence where the Melons have been "planted", the ground is a solid brown color in the Japanese version. In the US version, it's visibly cracked and dry. The victims themselves received some minor visual touch-ups.
Chapter 2#
The smoke shop was changed to a coffee shop, which meant the poster on the back wall had to be redrawn, and the stack of cigarette cartons on the desk became a single coffee cup. The ones on the back shelf remained, but had the black lines erased to obscure what they are. As a result, the homeless garlic in Orange Park now asks for a cup of coffee and a donut, instead of a box of cigarettes and some matches.
The liquor store became a "juice shop" (uh-huh), and an empty bottle was removed from the counter. Miss Eggplant quit smoking for her US debut and got rid of her ashtray as a result. Her hair and face were also touched up a bit.
Chapter 3#
In the front courtyard of the prison, the front gate was moved from the back wall to the one on the left, probably just to make it more obvious to North Americans what it is. The hip-and-gable roof over the front gate was completely removed. The guards were also slightly redrawn.
Chapter 4#
The big, scary-looking tree where Saladron is encountered has a shimenawa tied around it in the Japanese version. It was removed from the North American release.
Chapter 6#
Peanut Park received various touch-ups in the North American version, including cleaning up the artwork on the Hu-Bee statue and changing Peaja's shirt from red to yellow. Shroom's cap changed from red to pink, and he no longer smokes.
