Odd Squad: Agent Check-Up

This article has a talk page! This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

Odd Squad: Agent Check-Up involves checking up on agents in Dr. O's office. These agents have been infected by viruses and you have to figure out what the viruses are and mix the antidotes to cure them.

Vitamin O#

Throughout the game's files is more or less complete data for an unused antidote ingredient, named "Vitamin O". These include associated graphics, found within the sprite sheet images\spritesheets\medicine_sprites0.png, audio files, which were removed from the servers at some point but were retrieved, and parameters in assets\config\config.json and assets\config\captions.json.

Fahrenheit Temperatures#

Each of the game's virus parameters list temperatures in Celsius and Fahrenheit scales, though only the former are ever used. Associated graphics and sounds also exist; a °F notation can be briefly seen upon a patient's temperature is verified, though it is replaced by °C once the voiceover plays. The Fahrenheit values for each of the viruses are listed below:

Virus

Temperature

Others

98°F

Polka Dot Flu

104°F

Dino-sitis

101°F

Flash Rash

102°F

The Chill-outs

95°F

Cold Snap

93°F

Phlegmish Flu

102°F

Unused Viruses#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: How to render these?

assets\js\main.js makes references to three unused viruses, labeled tickledpink, gigglefever, and blumenhands. They appear to have animations, but how to render them is currently unknown. They are not referenced by any other file in the game.

Unused Graphics#

Early Title Screen#

images\spritesheets\loadsprites.png contains graphics for an earlier rendition of the game's title screen, which notably show an earlier title for the game; "Doctor O".

Interface#

images\office\BG.png is a high quality version of the office background seen during gameplay. The final game uses a jpg instead.

The following sprites, found in images\spritesheets\tool_sprites.png, refer to the temperature-related symptoms of the viruses Flash Rash/Phlegmish Flu, The Chill-outs and Cold Snap, respectively, but using the Fahrenheit scale instead of Celsius.

oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-temp102F.png
oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-temp95F.png
oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-temp93F.png

X-Ray#

images\spritesheets\xray_sprites1.png contains zoom-in graphics for body regions that are never accessed in the X-ray minigame, which are the left and right legs, as well as the right hand.

oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-rightleg.pngoddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-leftleg.pngoddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-righthand.png

Antidote Creation#

These thumbs down and thumbs up sprites, found within images\spritesheets\medicine_sprites0.png, might have been meant to be used whenever an antidote is administered incorrectly and correctly, respectively.

oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-thumbsdown.png
oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-thumbsup.png

Also in images\spritesheets\medicine_sprites0.png are graphics specific to the cups notation, which goes unused in favor of liters.

oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-cup.png oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-cups.png
oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-cupmeter.png

Also in images\spritesheets\medicine_sprites0.png are graphics for the numbers 3 and 4, meant to notate the amount of a certain ingredient. The maximum amount that is used is 2 and a half liters, so these go unused.

oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-three.png oddsquadAGENTCHECKUP-four.png

Mockup#

Also in images\office is menu_mockup.png, which is a mockup image depicting the game's interface, with the available tools and possible viruses. The colors appear to have been pretty heavily distorted.

Unused Sounds#

All of these can be found in the folder assets\sound.

Sound Effects (Folder sfx)#

booyousuck.ogg appears to be an earlier variation of the booing sound played whenever the player cures a disease. Notably, it's badly cut off.

sfx-Ahh_2.ogg and sfx-Ahh_4.ogg are earlier variations of the sound whenever a tongue depressor is used in patients without a mouth-related symptom (Froggification, Party Heart, Noisal Congestion, Creepers Jeepers, Exploding Hiccups, or Butterflies in Stomach).

sfx-illness-new.ogg is an unused, creepy fanfare. It's not known when it could have been used.

sfx-medicine-administer.ogg is an unused, longer version of sfx-medicine-administer-short.ogg, the sound effect played when administering the antidote to the patient.

sfx-medicine-incorrect.ogg is an unused sound effect associated with an incorrect antidote recipe. No sound effect plays when this happens, only voice lines.

sfx-medicine-pickup.ogg is an unused sound effect associated with grabbing an antidote ingredient.

sfx-medicine-ready.ogg is an unused sound effect associated with an antidote being ready to be administered.

sfx-symptom-correct.ogg and sfx-symptom-incorrect.ogg are two unused sound effects associated with a symptom being checked in and out, respectively. The final game instead uses a generic popping sound.

sfx-symptom-sneezeDouble.ogg is an unused sound effect associated with the Even Sneezin' virus. When a patient has this virus, however, sfx-symptom-sneeze.ogg, which is also used for Dino-sitis, is played instead.

sfx-symptom-striped.ogg is an unused sound effect associated with the Noisal Congestion virus, likely meant to play when the tongue depressor is used. The final game instead uses sfx-symptom-oddnoises1.ogg, which is also used for the Party Heart virus.

sfx-tool-thermometerWrong.ogg is an unused sound effect associated with answering incorrectly after using the thermometer.

whipping_creamwavwav.ogg is another unused sound effect. It's unknown what it could be associated with.

Voice Lines (Folder vo)#

Many of these unused voice lines have associated captions in assets\config\captions.json; their parameters will also be listed. Files that don't have associated captions will have their transcriptions marked in italics. Likewise, a few unused sounds no longer exist; only their transcriptions remain.
