Revisional Differences

This is a sub-page of Mega Man Maker.

As a game that's been in development for a while, it's only natural that some parts of the game would change. This is a list of the less obvious ones, as well as some interesting tidbits that might be interesting.

1.0.2#

General#

  • S-WinAmp.dll, the game's music engine DLL, was replaced by gme.dll.

1.1.0#

General#

1.0.0

1.1.0

  • Due to a (potential) copyright issue with a company of the same name, Mega Maker received a name change and updated logo, among other things.
I, too, enjoy a little "Rokkuman Mēkā"
  • This also rendered the Japanese Easter egg logo unused and, ultimately, removed.

1.3.4#

Levels#

  • The 1.1.0 Example Level, Standup Comedy, was altered very slightly in order to give its creator, SnoruntPyro, their new custom icon.

1.4.2.1#

General#

  • rousrDissonance.dll, a DLL enabling Discord Rich Presence, was added.

1.5.0#

General#

  • D3DX9_43.dll, a DirectX 3D runtime DLL, was removed.
  • gme.dll, the game's music engine DLL, was updated for compatibility reasons.
  • The unused Wily 3-2 Alt background was deleted and relocated further up in the data.
(From category 9, index 65 to index 436.)

1.5.3#

Levels#

Desert Base#

1.5.0

1.5.3

A chunk of rock was added in an adjacent screen to prevent the player from double-jumping over the Count Bombs.

1.5.0

1.5.3

Additionally, a whopping seven screens were added to the Fire Metall segment to prevent the player from double-jumping (and walking atop) the Fire Metall Spawners. In doing so, the second and third screens from the top, one screen from the left, had to have spikes added in order to prevent players from skipping the newly-linked screen entirely.

1.7.1#

Levels#

  • The 1.7.0 Example Level, Flappy Phoenix, previously used the icon of Objectionable, but the level was created by BushBacon. A small edit to the avatar number fixed this in 1.7.1.

1.7.2#

General#

  • buffer_zlib.dll, a simple data compression/decompression runtime, was implemented, improving level load times.

Levels#

Wall Kicks Will Work#

1.7.0

1.7.2

This level got a much-needed tweak in that a platform was lowered by one block in Room 8 to prevent jumping directly into the dark-blue teleporter.

1.9.0#

General#

  • MM11 Breakable Blocks (Block Man's stage hazard) no longer float in lava. Whether this is intentional or not is debatable as every other block that previously floated still does, regardless of implied weight or what it's made of.

Levels#

Standup Comedy#

1.1.0

1.9.0

This section had its lowered ceiling and Blocky enemy moved forward by one. It's unclear why this change was made, but it's a more tangible change compared to the previous revision.

Blast From the Past#

1.7.0

1.9.0

Three empty aesthetic rooms were removed around the Top Man section of the level. Seemingly the two screens on the left-middle were there to make the block platforms in the adjacent Quick Man section were stunted while the one on the middle-right ensured the final screen's platform rounded off. Presumably, the screens were removed for not adding anything significant to the level. Curiously, though, the two screens next to the Quick Man section were seemingly moved then deleted rather than being erased, as the adjacent platforms are still stunted instead of extended into infinity.

1.7.0

1.9.0

Additionally, one screen of aesthetic walls were removed under the first Bright Man section screen. Curiously, the other rooms to the right were not altered to match.

Mecha Cavern Canyon#

1.7.0

1.9.0

I'm over here!
I'm over here, now!

The player start was moved over by one tile to the right. That's it.

Tilesets#

13 of the Terrain Tilesets were outright replaced by newer versions. Rather than overwrite the original graphics, though, they were added as entirely new entries while the originals remain inaccessible through normal means.

Like all terrain, these are indexed under category 3 in the Builder.

Mega Man 6#

Yamato Tile 4

1.5.0 (Index 247)

1.9.0 (Index 1606)

OLD: Pink pillars with pinegreen padding found in very secluded dojos.
NEW: Perfectly pink pillars. Picturesque!

The green interior tiles were completely removed and the narrow columns were replaced by thicker ones.

Yamato Tile 4 (Alt)

1.5.0 (Index 248)

1.9.0 (Index 1607)

OLD: Violet pillars with mauve padding found in very secluded dojos.
NEW: Pristine purple pillars. Pretty!

Same as above, colors aside.

Mega Man 7#

Spring Tile

1.4.0 (Index 157)

1.9.0 (Index 1623)

Not a huge change from the original. Just some further definition and an enhancing of the pattern.

Spring Tile 2

1.5.0 (Index 458)

1.9.0 (Index 1622)

Much like the original, the framework was given more depth. The card suits are also much more emphasized in the new version!

Slash Tile

1.4.0 (Index 157)

1.9.0 (Index 1612)

A completely different border tile with a red triangle.

Cloud Tile

1.4.0 (Index 165)

1.9.0 (Index 1609)

OLD: Could not break the limits of the autotiler, so it has no fans.
NEW: We're sure you'll be a fan of these cool, cooling columns.

The most obvious change is the addition of the spinning fan blade. Seems like they figured it out! That aside, the columns gained some definition and detail.

Mega Man 8#

Clown Tile

1.5.0 (Index 466)

1.9.0 (Index 1610)

The generic and bland tileset was given some much-needed color and character.

Aqua Tile

1.5.0 (Index 471)

1.9.0 (Index 1608)

The rocky tiles were changed to an all-metal arrangement and what few tiles remained were given more detail.

Search Tile

1.5.0 (Index 472)

1.9.0 (Index 1611)

OLD: N/A
NEW: Yet more lego bricks! Will this evil madness ever stop?

For some reason, the old description was deleted and moved onto the new tileset which, as one can see, doesn't even look like a Lego™ tileset anymore. The hazard stripes were also given considerably less attention here.

Mega Man 11#

Bounce Tile

1.6.0 (Index 649)

1.9.0 (Index 1615)

What once was delightful plastic playground is now plain solid wood with some accent lights. Tragic.

Tundra Tile 2

1.7.0 (Index 690)

1.9.0 (Index 1617)

The icy blocks were given significantly more detail and the Flash Man-style bricks were removed.

Fuse Tile 2

1.6.0 (Index 654)

1.9.0 (Index 1616)

This tileset was made much sleeker. The circuit plate was also removed, as was the test palette (as it probably should have been).

Wily 1 Tile 2 (Mega Man 11)

1.6.0 (Index 656)

1.9.0 (Index 1618)

Gone are the riveted tiles, replaced by boring ol' panels. Otherwise, the usual detailing was done.

Music#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Analyze and compare these files to their earlier versions.

  • The following music files received updates of an indeterminate nature:

:*Stage Themes: Blast Man, Cold Man, Buster Rod G, Hyper Storm H, Air Man (GB II), MetalMan (GB II), WoodMan (GB II), Mars

:*Boss Themes: Wily Boss (MM 11), Boss (GB II), Boss (GB V), Sunstar

1.9.1.1#

General#

1.5.0

1.9.1.1

A photosensitivity warning was added in 1.5.0. It remained the same until 1.9.1.1, where the text was clumped together. What's most peculiar is that the text which precedes it was not grouped up -- though this update did fix the misreported version number on that screen. (1.9.1 called itself "1.9.0".)
