The 'Squirmhole'#
It seems like the player orignally had to pay in order to use the Squirmhole, rather than being able to use it for free, and even gain coins from it.

Options Menu#
Mario Party 8 was originally going to have an Options Menu like previous installments, but was scrapped, most likely due to the Wii's HOME Menu making most of these options unnecessary. While mdoption8dll.rel and mdoption8.bin exists within the filesystem, both of these files have no data. The only traces of an options menu left are in the message data. Surprisingly, the text for it is localized!
