Taiko drumming meets Mario platformer, Mad Rat Dead is an action-packed rhythm game filled with electro swing bops about a rat that seeks revenge on humans.
Unused Sprites#

A screenshot found within the game's sprites showing a development build of Mad Rat Dead. There are many differences to observe, including:
- The meter used for the Time Limit in the final game is apparently instead a "Tension" meter, and the text is turquoise instead of orange.
- The beat meter is much different, being a circular lamp with purple circles coming in as the beat notes. The time limit is seemingly displayed in the middle of it.
- The Goal meter is 9 arrows long instead of 5, with them being lit in a way that doesn't happen in the final game. The word Goal is misspelled as "Gool".
- Mad Rat's sprite is seemingly much lower resolution than the final game. As well, he uses orange highlights instead of blue ones.

The following dialogue went unused.
[MAD RAT] "That does sound nice.... but listen, Rat God..."
[RAT GOD] "Hm? What is it?"
[MAD RAT] "Uh... you saw didn't you? I was so weak, I died. Even if I could go back in time, what could I do with just one day?"
[RAT GOD] "Are you kidding me?! I can't believe this! Whining makes you sound even more pathetic!"
[MAD RAT] "Don't blame me, I was in a cage my whole life! Wishing wasn't enough! Because of him, I...!"
[RAT GOD] "*sigh* This is why you gave in to being a lab rat. It's why you spent your last days in a cage."
[MAD RAT] "I didn't CHOOSE to become a lab rat!"
[RAT GOD] "Don't worry! One day is enough to turn your life around!"

In the scene where Mad Rat speaks to the Mob Rats, this dialogue was to be used but was scrapped.

[MAD RAT] "That's how he keeps us alive for experiments! Doesn't that make you mad?!"
