Unused Models#

Unused Test Box#

There is a model named Test-Box in the files. There is also a texture for it.

Models for Polygon Testing#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Around which version of the game were these graphics removed?

In 1.53.0, there are models for a 100 polygon object, a 1,000 polygon object, and a 10,000 polygon object. The first one is a cylinder, the second one is a sphere, and the third one is a monkey head, all of which are high-poly versions of Blender's default models. There are also 3 textures for the 1000 polygon object, all of which are random memes. All of these were later removed.

Removed Graphics#

Chinese Graphics#

The directory assets/Common/china_temp_dir/ui/cocosstudio/ contained two folders: elements and game, for the unreleased Chinese graphics. The china_temp_dir folder was removed in the 1.3.0 update.

Unused Raindrop Texture#

A raindrop texture, it's unknown what this is.

Unused Red Magnet#

Hidden inside of the tuning parts sprite sheet is a red magnet. Possibly an older version of the magnet, which is yellow in the actual game. It is also named "magnet fuel" in the files.

Flags#

languages.png, along with a corresponding plist file, existed in assets/Common/textures/. The image contains the Union Flag and the flag of Finland. They were removed in the 1.3.0 update.

Tires#

HCR2-tire_pickup.pngHCR2-tire_pimped.png

Two graphics for a pickup tire and a pimped tire appeared in the 1.2.1 update but were later removed in the 1.2.2 update.

The Giftwrap paint for the Super Diesel was going to have its own wheel. But sadly, it was cut.

Early Vehicle Designs#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

  • Check all the versions to see if anything has changed for the other vehicles.

Super Diesel#

The Super Diesel truck was originally going to be a bit squished, rounded, and have a step for detail. The final release extends the body a bit and removes the step. The exhaust also went through some touches, too.

Exhaust (1.1.8)

Final Exhaust (1.2.1 and later)

Tank#

The Tank was originally going to be gray and a bit taller. When the vehicle was officially released in 1.3.0, its palette was changed to green instead. In addition, before the Tank was released, a red and green variant existed in two folders called green and red. They were removed due to the in-game engine capable of changing the default's palette instead. Oddly, once released, the folders were renamed to tank_hue_blue and tank_hue_green. The only colors available are green (default), red, and blue. Red is located in the tank_hue_green folder.

Model Adder?#

A graphic that is present in the models folder. Possibly used to add models?

Leftover Blender Files#

There were .blend files leftover in assets/Common/models/box and assets/Common/models/container. Opening them in Blender revealed visible differences from the final versions. These were also removed in the 1.3.0 update.

Unused Cars#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Add images for the ones that don't have images, if there are any that can be added, that is.

ATV#

ATV in the garage by using mods. ATV paints.

This was used in the beta version but is no longer used in the game. However, it's graphics are leftover in the game's files, and there are also sounds for this car.

There is also a blue and yellow paint like the Jeep has.

Truck/Caravan/Cartruck01-assets#

An unused car that looks a little like a caravan. It isn't in the beta version but might've been a prop or an early design of the racing truck. According by its name, it looks like there can be a goat inside. It also has 1-5 tunes instead of the normal 1-20 tunes.

Pickup#

There is a car named Pickup. This is an alternate version of the car that is blue seen in game but Red.

Beta Tractor#

An image of the unused Tractor. Beta Tractor in the garage by using mods.

There is a car named this in-game, but this one is not used. The main differences is that it is 3D instead of 2D and has a different design than the final one. The only image this car is seen is in an in-game advertisement.

FWD Buggy#

FWD Buggy in the garage by using mods. FWD Buggy paints. Strangely, it has only one paint and its the pickup truck from the Flipway track. So if you use it, you cant change it back to the alien one.

There is an unused car named "FWD Buggy" (or Alien Car), it goes pretty fast but it cannot climb even the smallest hills. It also has an Air Brake upgrade like the Supercar and it has 1-15 tunes instead of the normal 1-20.

Early Super Jeep#

In beta versions, the Super Jeep had a slightly bigger roll cage.

Early Motocross#

In older versions, the Motocross lacked the acronym on the car.

Early Sports Car#

In the garage icon, the tires say "Fingerstone" instead of "Bill is Not" or "Hill is Hot". In earlier versions, it was much larger and had a hood that would detach upon a collision, and originally had an AWD upgrade instead of the gearbox upgrade.

Current

Beta

Early Pickup Truck#

The Pickup Truck was rounded and had a step and was also a little shorter.

Early Tank#

In the beta version, the Tank used to be black and shorter.

Development Lowrider#

An unused image shows the Lowrider being driven in the countryside with a debug grid, the only change is it is slightly short and darker.

Development Beast#

Like the Lowrider, it also has an unused image. It is in the countryside with the debug grid, but the only difference is the car is not labelled with B.

Early Rally Car#

The icon for the Rally Car in version 1.30.0 used to have a blue and white color instead of dark blue, blue, and light blue.

Skateboard#

There is a "car" named "Skateboard". This one isn't used in any version. There is a .png file of the skateboard, and there are also sounds for it. If it is modded into any version of the game, upgrading the suspension to the max it will crash.

Hidden Cup#

There is a cup named Broken cup which is very rare to find on weekly or daily challenges, The stages are Mud and stuff and rage of crates, since it has the name broken in it, it means it's broken, also the stages are a lot of things to break, it's also unknown what the thumbnail was for this, and it also got removed.

Holy Sandstorm#

A possible cup that was not added yet, but the mentions and textures are in the files.

Test Areas#

The directory assets/common/ghosts/references contains 14 test areas which cannot be seen in-game, all of them are for max and min vehicles and the filenames of them are .dat.

Removed Bosses#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

Old Nikita Boss#

In old versions, she used to not wear a helmet and she was a lot easy to beat

Bill Newton#

This boss is not used but in old versions, it was used, this is Bill from Hill Climb Racing.

Nerd#

A boss named Nerd was present in old versions, but was removed.

Dave#

This was used in old versions, but was removed.

Removed Chests#

Chests that were removed.

Red and White Striped Chest#

This chest was in the very old version when chests were 2D, but was removed for unknown reasons.

Unused and Changed Vehicle Names#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

  • Add more explanations.
    • Legal issues?
    • When was the Hill Climber Mk. 2's name changed to Super Jeep?

In the files, the vehicles have these names, meaning a name was either scrapped during development or changed due to legal issues.

  • Mini Tank (Tank)
  • Lambo (Supercar)
  • Pickup truck (Super Diesel)
  • Super Jeep (Hill Climber Mk. 2) - The Super Jeep used to be called the Hill Climber Mk. 2 before it was changed.
