This is a sub-page of Grand Theft Auto 2 (Windows).
Unused Police Scanner Voices#
Azimuth
Barking
Kyabetsu
Romanova
Police radio pronunciations of the names of the unused areas. Azimuth and Barking are used in the mission introductions, which use a squishy cartoon-esque gibberish telephone sound.
Bullet Hitting Pedestrians#
This isn't heard in the game because of programming errors in the entity. Later re-used in Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto Advance.
Ricocheting Sounds#
These sounds don't play due to an entity error. But they are reused later.
Car Crush#
After crushing a car, players will hear an explosion instead of this. In the early beta stages, when a car gets crushed, it will not explode, which is more realistic.
Model Car#
Leftover from the Grand Theft Auto Model Car's engine.
Power-Up Sound#
This is taken from Grand Theft Auto and was used in demo version during the pickup of a power-up, while GTA 2 has announcer voices of specific item.
Props Collision#
As these props are not used, their audio file is also unused. They're a placeholder from Grand Theft Auto.
Radio Channel Changing Sounds#
Pressing 'F1' allows you to change the radio channel. In Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto London 1969 and 1961, the player will hear radio static after changing the radio channel, while in Grand Theft Auto 2, it is silent.
Ghetto Blaster Sound#
Plays near the Blaster when you get near one. It constantly says the word "Bastards" from the in-game song "Taxi drivers must die!" By Bula Matari.
Unused Announcer Vocals#
Game Over#
An announcer says "Game Over!" after you lose all your lives. The entity that plays the sound is not set up correctly, leaving this unique sound un-hearable. If you fix the sound demonstration via game files you can hear the sound.
Bomb Armed#
When a player holds a Vehicle Bomb, the announcer warns the player to escape. It has the same problem as the Game Over Sound, the entity of the sound is broken. Fixing it will make the player able to hear it. It's the only sound said by the announcer without excitement.
Oh, damn! Sunday drivers#
Intended to be used in the bonus stage when completing it in eleventh place.
Frying tonight!#
Intended to be used in the bonus stage when completing it in seventh place.
Mmm... Somethin's cookin'#
Might be used if you kill enough enemies with a flamethrower in a mini-game.
Sorry about that#
Seems like the announcer worries about killing people in the game.
Instant gang#
Unknown purpose.
Suck it and see#
An unused bonus stage sound.
Taste My Wrath, Ice Cream Boy#
Ditto.
Instant Vehicle Bomb#
For the 'Instant Vehicle Bomb'.
Vehicle Bomb#
The player will never hear the announcer while rigging it in the garage.
Xin Loi, my man#
Xin Loi means "White mice" in Vietnamese. Sounds just like "Sorry About that".
