Forza Horizon 4 is the fourth installment of the Forza Horizon spin-off series, in which players get to drive around a miniaturised version of Britain. This game introduced a "Seasons" system that changes the open world's season every Thursday, although everybody really hates Winter there for some reason. It was also known for flawed sound design for cars that everyone loved to complain about and the "disappearance" of Mitsubishi and Toyota, although these two car manufacturers eventually came back during its development lifespan.

Forza Horizon 3 Leftovers#

Within the video files, located at media/ui/videos, there are leftover video files from Forza Horizon 3. IE_opening.bk2 is the singleplayer intro, and Multiplayer_Intro.bk2 is the multiplayer trailer seen in Horizon 3 after unlocking the multiplayer modes. Higher-quality versions of these can be found in the subfolder hires.

Early Fortune Island DLC Videos#

Watch on YouTubeWatch on YouTubeIn media/ui/videos/4k60, early versions of the Fortune Island DLC intro cutscenes can be found. These features a large "PLACEHOLDER" text over the video, and have some minor changes from the final cutscenes. In the first video, the camera angles and lighting are slightly different, and various parts of the distant terrain are in a noticeably lower quality. The second one has only minor differences, and features subtitles baked into the footage.

Watch on YouTubeThe file Panic_Button_Logo.bk2 contains the logo used on the Xbox Series X/S version of the game. For whatever reason, this is in the files of all three versions despite the developer only being involved with one of them.

Oddities#

A Lego minifigure is partially visible through a wall in the Paddocks of the Lego DLC Circuit.

Version Differences#

Removed Dancing Emotes#

Two dancing emotes, "Carlton" and "Floss", were removed in a patch in January 2019 due to lawsuits filed by those dances' creators against Epic Games for their use of the dances as emotes in Fortnite.1

Removed Songs#

The songs Die Trying by Eyes Set to Kill (on Horizon XS) and Find Yourself (Ashworth Remix) by Great Good Fine Ok ft. Before You Exit (on Horizon Bass Arena) were removed in various patches, likely due to ESRB censorship reasons.
