Unused Audio#
Unused Core Stone Theme Variants#
Inside Audio\Music\Boss\AudioFiles are, along with other boss music, multiple variations of the Core Stone event theme. Along with the version used in the final release are 4 older versions, that are all helpfully labelled!

Notes |
|---|---|---|
RC_Rift_Looping_1.ogg |
Likely the earliest draft to make its way in game, it is composed strangely with many cuts and repeats. It also lacks the less intense sections that later versions have almost entirely. |
|
RC_Rift_V2_Short_intro.ogg |
A more evolved version. Considering the name and the odd fade-in, there is likely a variation with an even longer intro. |
|
RC_Rift_V2_Shorter_intro.ogg |
Previous version with an even shorter intro with no other differences. |
|
RC_Rift_V3_Shorter.ogg |
The second to final version, this was used during the season's Experimental Branch. Significantly more complete, it features instrumentation other versions lack. |
Deep Scan Unused Ping Sound#
There is a second set of Deep Scan ping sounds for locating Resonance Crystals that go unused.

Unused Resources#
Quantrite#
Quantrite is a cut crafting material. It was accidentally showcased in the Mineral Trade screenshot on Update 12's Steam page, shortly after it was replaced with a new screenshot where the resource was removed. While this resource was fully removed from the game's files during Update 14, it has made a peculiar return with the release of Update 34 but still wasn't added in the game.
Neromite#
Crafting resource that was present during Regular branch testing and removed at some point for unknown reasons. Alternative icon still exists in the game files. This mineral's appearance is quite similar to Bismor, and was likely renamed to Bismor. However, since there's evidence that it appeared in Sandblasted Corridors, it is possible that the Sandblasted Corridors had Bismor instead of Magnite.
Hox Iron#
Unknown resource, only an icon can be found in the current game's files. Due to the way it spawned and it's appearance, it was likely used to test crafting and used as a material within a game.
Yellow Bittergem#

Bittergem used to reward the dwarves with 300 credits upon depositing and was originally colored pale yellow similarly to Compressed Gold chunk.
Bludiz#
Unknown resource, a small trace can be found in 2015 early build's files. This was a very early version of Aquarq and it had a very similar model.
Unused Mission Types#
Search and Extract#
Was a non-linear Mining Expedition mission type that was eventually merged with Egg Hunt. Removed in Update 18.
Old Egg Hunt#
Was a linear mission type, these missions were exactly like Mining Expedition but Morkite mining was replaced with 10 Alien Eggs. Removed in Update 18.
Unused Mutators#
No Headlight#

Milestone icon still exists. Presumably the headlights would be disabled throughout the mission for the dwarves.
Volatile Flares#

Milestone icon still exists. Throwing the flares would deplete player's shield.
Cut and Unused Enemies#
Squishable Parasite#

A strange parasite, from the game files it's suggested to be squishable. It's one of the creatures from the BET-C's concept art, suggesting this was the early Xynarch Charge-Sucker's appearance at one point.
Sucking Plant#
Large plant with an oval shaped head. Suggested to be a plant which would suck in dwarves, an animation of the 'head' opening up with an air sucking animation is present.
Glyphid Veteran#

Acted exactly the same as a Glyphid Grunt but would have 50% more health and tougher armor.
Glyphid Vampire/Glyphid Grunt Boss#
The Glyphid Grunt Boss is capable of burrying underground and temporarily incapacitating dwarves from beneath, has a lot of health and can shoot webs. It uses a Glyphid Grunt model. Glyphid Grunt Boss might be the same thing as Glyphid Vampire.
Glyphid Charger#
This unfinished creature looks identical to a Glyphid Praetorian. Its only attack consists of swiftly charging at any nearby dwarves, but it fails to do anything besides printing out "Hello" message in the console. There's some concept art available possibly suggesting the creature's intended appearance.
Glyphid Acid Spitter Queen#
An unused variation of the Glyphid Acid Spitter. It looks similar to an Acid Spitter, although much larger and with dark gray skin. It has a very large health pool, and frequently burrows underground to reposition before shooting large acid blobs that spawn toxic gas clouds. When it reaches 50% health, it spawns a bunch of normal Acid Spitters to help protect it. Some of this enemy's behaviors were reused for the Glyphid Menace.
Glyphid Drone#
Some sort of an unfinished flying variation of a Glyphid. Was possibly used as a test of an flying enemy before Mactera was added into the game. Its appearance consists of a Grunt with purple armor plating and two large yellow rectangles sticking off of its back. None of its armor plating can be broken, and for some reason, its plates turn cyan right before the ragdoll despawns.
Mactera Fire Bomber#
An unused variation of the Mactera Goo Bomber. It has a dark gray and orange appearance, and it shoots explosive projectiles instead of goo blobs. It was accidentally shown in a trailer for Update 33.
Matured Rockpox Larvae#
An unused Rockpox enemy. It looks like a Nayaka Trawler, but with a brown and yellow appearance. Presumably, it would have appeared when damaging Contagion Spikes. Its behavior is similar to that of a Trawler, except it will not incapacitate dwarves, but only ram them. It also occasionally shoots Rockpox projectiles.
Unused Equipment#
Force Barrier#

A strange wall blueprint is visible in the developer vlog #4, traces can be found in the game files. This would've been possibly a new supply drop or an engineer building which could be used to block/distract enemies.
Rope Gun#
Some sort of rope based equipment, files suggest one end could be something similar to Grappling Gun or Zipline Gun. Possibly a tool the developers experimented with which allowed the user to fire a rope up a cliff, acting like a traditional grappling hook.
Barrel Armor#

It was an armor made out of barrels which were class colored. This was only present in the Experimental Branch and possibly made as a joke by developers.
Cut and Unused Features#
Bosco Reloading and Limited Ammo#

Would've had a limited ammo pool which could be refilled. A yellow counter appears on Bosco's back indicating how many ammo refills are remaining. This counter can be increased only up to 2 refills via taking a Resupply Pod.
Resupply Pod Medkit#

Resupply Pods used to carry two medkits and two ammo racks which would refill 100% of either ammunition or health. Before the introduction of Nitra Resupply Pods used to cost 100 Gold.
Hazard 5 Difficulty Health Sharing#
Originally players shared 50% of their health every time they revived an incapacitated teammate. This was only present in the Experimental Branch.
Armor Color Variations#
Each armor had three color schemes: Standard would consist of class specific colors, White Knight would consist of silver or copper plating and Black Crag would consist of black and red coloring. Black Crag was later reworked into an unlockable armor skin, unlocked at level 80.
Milestone: Rare Things#
Finding Error Cubes and Bittergems used to count towards a milestone.
Milestone: Kill Creatures#
Killing Glyphid Dreadnoughts, Cave Leeches and Spitball Infectors would count towards a milestone. Curiously enough the "Kill Cave Leeches" Milestone icon was updated with the latest model.
Refunds#
There's an entire folder dedicated to refunds, seems like vanity items and upgrades were planned to be refundable. It is possible this system is used for when upgrades are re-balanced.
Abandoned Mine#
There's various models of strange machinery that are still unused, some of the models are used in the Space Rig and Salvage Operation. Machine Events may be a form of the original "Abandoned Structures" idea.
Cut Classes#
Generic Hero#

There used to be a fifth class used purely by the developers for testing purposes. This class would carry every single weapon and tool in their inventory. Icon was taken from the old artwork.
