A set of unused graphics for Puphead, Djimmi the Great's fourth phase, with a weird gold glow.

A parryable version of the rings Djimmi shoots out in his final phase.

Fiery Folic#

An early design for Grim Matchstick's third phase which appears to have the leftmost head disconnected from his whole body. In the final, separate sprites for his heads and body are used instead.

There also exists a golden variation of it which judging by its filename, is likely an early version of the warning Grim gives before using his blow torch attack.

An early and unfinished mugshot for Grim Matchstick's death card in phase 1 which uses his idle animation as the mugshot rather than a completely new one in the final.

Cuphead-Windows-dragon_bullet_orange.png Cuphead-Windows-dragon_bullet_pink.png Cuphead-Windows-dragon_bullet_teal.png

Early versions of Grim Matchstick's eye ripple bullets which can be seen in early gameplay.

A crudely drawn fire projectile for the blow torch attack in Grim Matchstick's third phase.

Aviary Action#

An early version of Wally Warbles bullets, these are also seen in early gameplay.

A parryable version of Wally Warbles feathers used in his feather attack.

Dramatic Fanatic#

A crudely drawn placeholder called "windownun", which would have been used during the secret phase in Sally Stageplay's fight before it was properly implemented. Despite being able to force the secret phase before it was added, these assets don't appear due to them being mislayered.

A slightly updated version of Sally's idle animation. A few minor changes were made, with the biggest difference being the placement of the cheeks.

Sally crying. This was reused for the secret phase, but was duplicated and cleaned up a bit to match with the background better.

Murine Corps#

A parryable version of the cherry bombs thrown out in Werner's cannon attack.

All Bets Are Off#

Cuphead-Windows-clubs.png Cuphead-Windows-diamonds.png Cuphead-Windows-heart.png Cuphead-Windows-spades.png
Crudely drawn icons for all four playing card suits. These assets are placeholders for an unused boss called "Card" that would have been an additional miniboss for King Dice's fight. The yellow diamond however goes completely unused.

Cuphead-Windows-soulidle.png
A crudely drawn placeholder called "soulidle", for a minion that would have appeared during Mr. Chime's fight.

One Hell of a Time#

Cuphead-Windows-Devil-Placeholders-1.png Cuphead-Windows-Devil-Placeholders-2.png

Placeholder sketches of an early design of the devil, mixed in with final artwork.

Parts of an unused intro animation for the final phase, possibly meant as a transition between the cut second phase and the final phase. Said second phase was reused for the secret Angel and Demon fight in the DLC.

Others#

Cuphead-Windows-Stone_block.png
A pixelated stone block, probably a placeholder.

Cuphead-Pigshop_guide.pngCuphead-Windows-_LINE-UP_COIN_CHALK_FINAL.png Cuphead-Windows-alignment_guide.png
Three mockup screenshots named "Pigshop_guide" "_LINE-UP_COIN_CHALK_FINAL", and "alignment_guide" respectively.

Cuphead-Windows-blueprint_final_guide.png
A screenshot of the plane control screen, featuring Xbox controller prompts. The health bar UI is missing, and PINK isn't bolded in the final image. This image is named blueprint_final_guide (1).

Cuphead-Windows-descend_addition_guide.png
A shrunken screen capture of the entire tutorial area, named descend_addition_guide (1).

Cuphead-Windows-worldmap_cuphouse_0001.pngCuphead-Windows-worldmap_cuphouse_0002.pngCuphead-Windows-worldmap_cuphouse_0003.png
An early version of Cuphead and Mugman's house, named worldmap_cuphouse.

No Jareds allowed. Cuphead-Windows-illumijared.png
Cutouts of Jared Moldenhauer's head from this Gamereactor interview.

Cuphead-Windows-jaredhead.png Cuphead-Windows-Temp-Jared.png
"jaredhead" is a completely new and original character based on the images above. This happens to be a leftover from when one of the developers cartoonified Jared's head.

Obscured Graphics#

Threatenin' Zeppelin#

A near impossible to see animation loop of Hilda Berg's intro. The last 2-3 frames are visible, but are almost entirely cut off.

Dramatic Fanatic#

Sally's "Spin Drop" attack has an unseen intro where it poofs in. It's unknown if this plays offscreen or is simply cut out.

The priest ducking for cover. The beginning of this animation is used at the end phase 1 when Sally goes into the background, but he never comes back up.

Murine Corps#

The full background is always obscured, either by a wall or the cat.
