It's the Master System port, but with screen crunch. While the later Game Boy port would alter some of the level design to compensate for the smaller viewing area, this port wasn't so lucky.
Cheat Mode#
Go to the option screen, and highlight the Music option with the cursor. Press Right, Right, Right, Left, Left, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left and a "Cheats!" option will appear. You can select how many lives you'll start with, invincibility, and what level to start in – including the bonus stages.
