ChainDive

To do:
Take a look at the demo version for anything interesting.

ChainDive is a 2.5D action platformer akin to Bionic Commando with inertia-based combat.

Infamously, the US only received a demo in Disc 79 of the Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine in order to gauge interest, but to no avail.

Early Title Screen#

SFOLDER1.FLD contains an early version of the title screen, featuring an early logo and a hexagon effect over the background, while missing the lightning effects, the renders of Teal and Lachesis, the "All Rights Reserved." text, and any color but green.

"TYPE-B" Controls#

When poking at menu selections and changing them to normally invalid values, one can find an arguably-valid option for an unused "TYPE-B" control scheme. The texture sheet for the controller layouts properly allocates space for a third control scheme graphic, but that space is filled in black. "TYPE-B" seems to be an early name for the final game's "EXPERT" control scheme, as they both seem to function identically- R2 can be used to grapple onto Voids and enemies, prioritizing enemies, while R1 exclusively grapples onto Voids.

Unused Text#

Costume Change Mode#

To do:
I'm fairly sure this isn't used, there's a lot of evidence suggesting it's not, but there's always that unlikely chance it's obscured. Everything else in the Extras menu still SHOWS when it's not unlocked, just grayed out; there're no textures mentioning it with the rest of the main menu stuff, which included the TYPE-B select graphic; Even messing about the section of memory with the unlock flags for everything else in the Extras menu didn't get it to appear. Will report back when the translation is complete.

Bundled with the rest of the strings for the main menu in TTFOLDER.FLD is this strange string, which seems to be the only mention in the game's files of a cut Costume Change mode.

TYPE-B Controls#

Another string in TTFOLDER.FLD references the above TYPE-B control scheme, placed alongside the used strings for the game's Default and Expert control schemes. Oddly, forcibly selecting the TYPE-B scheme doesn't display this string, instead showing the string for highlighting "New Game" in the main menu
