Burai Fighter Deluxe is a Game Boy port of the NES shmup where the Deluxe in the name is debatable, mainly due to the lack of the top-down levels and various elements such as bosses being simplified.

The international version adds a VS mode. The international version also makes you wait until the title screen jingle ends before you can move the pointer and select something.

The international version's password system lacks vowels, as was common in many other games at the time.
Difficulty#
Most enemies in the Japanese version have more health on harder difficulty settings.

The Japanese version's final boss consists of four lung-shaped creatures that mainly circle around the screen and shoot projectiles towards the player. Their weakspots are the heads(?) which are to be shot via the open space in-between the lungs. The fight is rather easy due to them not being very durable.
The international version features a simpler rendition of the Slimedragon from the NES original instead, whose pattern involves moving left and right, with going left having more speed as if its ramming into the player, while occasionally (sometimes rarely) shooting a projectile from its mouth at the player. Like the NES version, the weakspot is inside its mouth.
