The title screen was redesigned. The international versions had its copyright details updated and now includes a "Licensed by Nintendo" disclaimer. The text "Push Start Key" was changed to "Press Start Button" and is now located directly below the logo in a brighter color.

During some cutscenes or after completing a level, the hero makes a different pose between the two versions. The Japanese version has him doing a banzai pose, while the international versions has him doing a thumbs up pose.

The hero's depressed pose after being turned down by his love interest during cutscenes looks different between the two versions. The Japanese version has him facing away from the screen, while the international versions has him looking up while facing the screen.

Audio#

When doing his victory pose, the hero will shout "Yatta" in the Japanese version. This was changed to a manly "Yeah" in the international releases. The two voice lines are also featured in the game's sequel (Soukoban 2 and Boxxle 2).

Bugfixes#

There are minor graphical glitches in the Japanese version that happen when moving a box or with the room number and step counter that flicker. These issues have been fixed in the international versions.

Credits#

The credits feature a sequence of screens that scroll from top to bottom. The Japanese version has one more screen to credit a voice actress, Chisa Yokoyama, and the international credits go by slower to compensate.

Additionally, the Japanese version credits Takayuki Nogami as the graphic artist, while the US version replaces his name with Chikashi Horikawa (C. Horikawa).
