Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is a retro "prequel mini-game" and a Kickstarter stretch goal to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. As Ritual got further delayed, Curse went from being a prequel set 10 years in the past to being set in an alternate timeline. Even though Inti Creates stepped down from making Ritual, they were still able to deliver a Castlevania III-inspired game with aplomb.
Unused Graphics#
All of the playable characters strike a pose when switching in from each other. There are sprites for when they switch in mid-air, however in the game they use the same animation regardless of if they're on the ground or in the air.

The boss of the first stage "Glutton Train"'s hand has an additional palette for a "frozen" state, during the battle only its head can actually be frozen.

Mighty Gunvolt Burst leftovers#
Most menu assets from Mighty Gunvolt Burst, including all of the Weapon Icons and Pixel Stickers, are present in the files.
Partially obscured#
The boss of the first stage "Glutton Train" wears an iron mask than can't be destroyed, looking at its sprite sheet reveals that its true face is just one giant eye and is fully-animated. This detail is mostly consistent with Ritual of the Night.

Unused Maps#
A test map under the name "map00", it's a very basic level with a couple of elements: Watch on YouTube
- Some moving platforms, vertically and horizontally.
- A set of stairs, which will drop the player when reached to the end of (the lower stairs appear to cause death because of this).
- A single chasing enemy.
- A gap that is too large for most characters to jump over.
Most striking of all is the presence of various numbered parallax scrolling columns, the number on them seems to be relative to their distance to the playing plane: 4 being the furthest in the back, 10 being right in the middle, 22 is used for a single non-scrolling column in the foreground at the end of the room. On the 3DS version of this map, there are visible grid dots on each layer of the parallax background, which creates a very disorienting effect while moving.
