Block Force

Block Force is another puzzle game from RCM, who were perhaps hoping to replicate Magic Jewelry's success with a clone of Konami's Quarth - they even doubled the size of their development team (to two people).

...Unfortunately for them, Konami brought Quarth to the Famicom officially that same year, rendering their efforts slightly redundant.

Unused Graphics#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Can any of these be displayed in-game somehow? Magic Jewelry and Magic Jewelry II had some quite well-hidden Easter eggs.

Titles#

A smaller version of the title logo.

An unused title, "Block Hole". This also happens to be the international name of Quarth, the Konami arcade game this is based on.

Buttons#

What appear to be controller buttons, perhaps intended for a tutorial or the options screen. However, no tutorial exists, and the options screen only contains a sound test.

Photo#

There are two versions of this game: one with copy protection, one without. A digitized photo of Hwang Jiun-Ming1 and an associated tilemap appear near the end of the ROM in the unprotected version, though no code to actually display them seems to exist. The photo and tilemap were removed to make room for the protection code in the protected version.
