Blender Bros. was planned for release in Japan and Europe, as evidenced by promotional box art for a French version, and the Japanese version being showcased at Nintendo Space World 2001 and TGS Fall 2001. The planned Japanese version even received a serialized manga tie-in in the monthly Comic Bom Bom magazine, called Super Dog Blender Bros. (スーパードッグ ブレンダーブロス) by Kouji Izuki. Izuki stated that tensions between Hudson Soft and Infogrames, and sub-contracted developer A.I's parent company, Quintet, winding down their overall operations at the time were to blame. Eventually, the game was released worldwide on Steam as an emulated digital re-release by Piko Interactive.

The original game's ROM still has some remnants of the scrapped translations. At ROM offset 61B458, there's Japanese text for various message tests, presented below.
- This is a message test with various character portraits and names in English. The rest of the message would be roughly something to the effect of "Japanesa" "Japanesb" "Japanesc" "Japanesd" "Japanese".

After these test messages are all of the game's text, each of which have six variants: the first variant is English placeholder text, the second variant is the actual English localization, and the remaining variants are in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. The FIGS localizations are fully functional if the game is hacked to display a specific language. There are also some graphics with language variants structured in the same way as the text, though some of them contain some Japanese text (example: ポイントセーブ, "Point Save") that may refer to removed features.
