Unused Cutscenes

This is a sub-page of Bayonetta 2.

Unused and early versions of cutscenes seen in Bayonetta 2 can be found in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. A handful of these cutscenes, primarily placeholders, are also present in the original Wii U version. Unfortunately, none of these files have any subtitle or audio data left over.

These cutscenes were loaded by replacing existing ones, so any skyboxes or background geometry should not be considered part of the unused cutscene.

Watch on YouTubeA Resplendence opens its mouth and begins charging a laser. The camera pulls back to reveal a Worship, which charges toward Resplendence's open mouth and explodes on impact.

Resplendence appears glitchy in this scene, as both its normal and damaged models are loaded simultaneously. There is also motion data for the Umbran Armor in this file.

This likely would've occurred sometime between Sapientia's and Iustitia's defeat cutscenes.

ev6a0d#

Watch on YouTubeWhat appears to be an early version of Temperantia's defeat cutscene, in which Bayonetta summons Hekatoncheir to punch it in the face-- a callback to how it is defeated in the first game.

In the final, Temperantia simply falls out of the air, and the Verse ends.

Watch on YouTubeA cutscene meant for Chapter XV. It depicts the Umbran Clock Tower falling to pieces, Affinities surrounding two witch apprentices, and Bayonetta and Balder encountering Loptr.

It is likely based on a concept art piece which shows Bayonetta and Balder standing inside a piece of the falling Clock Tower. Initially, Loptr was planned to appear at the top of the Clock Tower and signal for angels to destroy it. This would explain why Bayonetta and Balder encounter him in the midst of the falling debris.

The two witch apprentices may be placeholders for Bayonetta and Jeanne from the first game. They are in the same poses they strike at the beginning of the Records of Time Chapter in Bayonetta.

ev8a00.evn contains animations for the pre-rendered pole dance routine seen after the credits. It plays through this routine seven times, each using a different camera angle. No facial animations are present except during the sixth playthrough, during which the camera also mainly focuses on Bayonetta's face. It is present in the Wii U version, but was mostly dummied out, containing no animation data whatsoever.

ev8a01#

Contains pose data for the main cast and Enzo's plane, used for the group photo displayed after the credits. This image is a pre-rendered texture in the final. Also present in the Wii U version.

ev9000#

ev9000.evn is the Wii U demo-exclusive cutscene that plays at the beginning of the demo.

ev9001#

This file has no motion data; however, it does have a file named ObjList.bxm that lists Jeanne and Valor's model files.

ev9002#

Bayonetta stands atop a Platinum Stars jet as Valor flies towards her. Valor slashes at the jet, which Bayonetta dodges by leaping high into the air.

Possibly an early version of Valiance's QTE in the Prologue.

ev9003#

An early version of Jeanne's missile-firing event during the Prologue's Belief battle.

Jeanne stands in mid-air over top a Platinum Stars jet. The jet then fires two missiles towards the camera.

ev9005#

Watch on YouTubeAn unfinished version of the Climax finisher against Belief in the Prologue. Gomorrah appears instantly, and doesn't roar after being summoned. Its biting animations are much less violent. There is also no QTE.

ev9008#

An early version of Belief's introduction cutscene, which lacks any QTE implementation. Strangely, any references to Belief's actual model are missing from this file.

Belief's Hierarchy of Laguna page is meant to appear on-screen from seconds 00:04 to 00:12. For unknown reasons, it instead loads onto the screen for the entire duration of the cutscene, rendering it impossible to see behind it. Because of this, the page's model has been replaced with a transparent one in this video.

ev9009#

Watch on YouTubeAn unfinished version of the first part of Belief's Climax finisher. The animations are quite unpolished, most noticeably in that Jeanne's kick is just a static pose.

eva008#

Bayonetta2_eva008_glamor.png

A two frame animation of Glamor in the pose used for her Hierarchy of Laguna entry. One of the hands on her right is upturned in the final render, but downturned in this animation.

eva021#

Bayonetta2_eva021_resentment.png

A single frame animation of Resentment in its Lemegeton's Guidebook entry pose. Its arm whip is missing from its model, but the .evn does contain the appropriate pose for it as well.

eve300, eve301, eve302#

These three files contain animations used in E3 trailers. eve300 is unique in that it has two additional animations of Loki at the end that were not used in any trailers.
