The game's version history is commonly split into five eras, dictated by the version prefix at the top-right of the title screen: Prototype (Launch - 0.4), Alpha (1.03 - 2.2), Beta (10.0 - 11.1), Pre-Release (2.0 - 2.4), and Release (2.5 - 3.2).
Note that starting with 2.5 the prefix for the updates was changed to only say "Version" with a version number. To avoid ambiguity, versions with the update prefix "Version" are listed as "Release" since the versions before them were officially denoted as "Pre-Release".
