Alex Rider: Stormbreaker is an action game based on the 2006 movie and 2000 novel of the same name. The GBA release of the game is a more basic version of the Nintendo DS game... and as with that game the product placement for the DS itself is still retained, albeit not as directly.

Unused Translations#

The American version of the game includes full French, Spanish, and German translations that were carried over from the European version. However, the game defaults to English, and there is no option to change the language.

Unused Dutch Language Placeholder#

Both versions of the game list "Dutch" as a language option in the code, but the game does not contain any Dutch text. This option is also not selectable in the final game.

Regional Differences#

As implied earlier, the European release features a language selection screen, shown after the initial company logos.

Europe

US

The close-up of Ian Rider's car being shot on the intro scene was changed a bit for the US version: the awkwardly aimed pistols (and the hands holding them) were removed, and the car itself had even more bullet holes added in (with them being bigger and more noticeable compared to the original), as well as various sparks and even more broken glass and cracked windshield. There's also a slightly more noticeable motion blur effect added to the image, which in turn makes the car rims a bit darker and blurrier.
