David Crane's The Rescue of Princess Blobette (Starring A Boy and His Blob) is the sequel to the NES's Trouble on Blobolonia, notably given a Japanese release six months before being brought overseas. Notable still is that the first game would be published in Japan a month after this title, making it technically a prequel depending on who you ask.

For the international releases, the boy's design was changed to match that of the original NES game. The characters' outlines were also made lighter.
