The Kinect branding uses the codename Natal throughout the earlier builds.

Currently the earliest available build of the Kinect dashboard. It is very noticeably different than the final counterpart:

  • Has a blue-white gradient background.
  • Fully dark Console Settings menus.
  • The Xbox Guide is based on NXE Guide design.
  • The Avatar Editor is still based on the NXE version.
  • The serial rings make an appearance, but not for long, since it was primarily only used for NXE builds. This is likely a leftover.

  • Serial rings are no longer present. Has a ßETA watermark on the lower right corner, which uses the German sharp S, instead of the Greek β.
  • The icons and text on the dashboard are laid out slightly differently.
  • System settings background is no longer dark.
  • The Xbox Guide looks more similar to the final one.
  • The Avatar Editor's design has been change slightly and now more resembles the current version.
  • By pressing LT + Left DPad, it will open the XTweak menu.

  • Has a different version of the Kinect boot animation (bootanim.xex), which sounds like a mix of both the old and new boot sounds. A laugh track is also at the beginning, and the sound at the end would later be used as the Xbox One boot sound.
    • Dashes prior to this version used the old boot animation.
  • No longer has a dark rectangle behind the text on the dashboard.
  • Slightly different button and text positioning.
  • The icons are darker.
  • The Xbox logo is now moved to the lower right corner.
  • The Xbox Guide now has grey lines between each button.
  • The capital I in the font now has serifs.
  • The list of available menus now has a tiny square to the left of it, and the each text line makes more of a gradient.
  • If dashboard tries to load something from Xbox Live, the ßETA watermark will disappear
