This page details one or more prototype versions of Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise.

Gameplay Differences#

General#

  • Many elements from the first game are still used here as placeholders, as the new graphical assets haven't been finished yet.
  • The new Piñatas introduced in the second game lack a lot of implemented content, including houses, journal entries, dialogue and PIP text.

Visual Differences#

Title Screen#

  • The title screen has been changed to use signposts like the final instead of a star menu.
  • The garden is vastly different, lacking the ground variety seen in the final and the various plants & trees.
  • The first game's tutorial is still accessible in this build, assigned to the leftmost sign with Leafos.

Langston Challenges#

  • The UI here is very barebones, comprising of a solid white background with the country positions represented by green squares.

Final

Langston's Shop#

  • The shop uses the same model as Costalot's shop in this build instead of Pinata Central.
  • The shop is called "Traps-R-Us" in this build rather than the final's "Langstons TrapEase".

Piñarctic#

The Piñarctic has some decent progress made on it, but only on the front layers of the area. The background has seemingly not been done yet.

Dessert Desert#

The Dessert Desert is very unfinished at this stage of development, repurposing a visually broken version of the garden seen in the first game.

Leftover Files#

hostname.txt#

Intended to be present for development builds and contains the name of a workstation to connect to. The name left in this is "wbryand1", likely the name of one of Will Bryan's systems.
