To do:

  • Access the Debug Mode.
    • Figure out the PC keycodes and the PS2 button commands for the Debug stuff.
  • Map differences.
  • Rip models and textures. Look at Taz.exe and look out for internal development stuff

This is a sub-page of Proto:Taz: Wanted.

Milestone 8 is one of the earliest builds of Taz: Wanted to be surfaced.

Babel Engine .pc files#

  • The sound.pc file can be ripped with Audacity, by extracting raw data. But there are efforts to rip it though.

General Differences#

  • Running the game will create a debug log, which describes about the Babel engine.
  • Window is named "Babel", the name of the engine.
  • On all three levels, there is a collectible item, in the form of spinning tops. The design document says they're named "Taz Tops".
    • They were replaced with Eye-Spy in Milestone #9, and then they were replaced with the collectible powerups that would be in the final version.

Scene differences#

Frontend#

The internal files give out a timestamp of October 25th, 2000. This was the title screen.

  • The Frontend is completely different from the final, and it's in a extremely early state. It would be unchanged in Milestone #9.
  • In builds before this one, the game would start out on the first world's hub instead, as the frontend doesn't exist.

Unused Models#

  • sylvester.obe - was the boss for Sam Francisco. Wasn't used, but renders are seen in the design document.
