This is a sub-page of Proto:THE iDOLM@STER 2.

To do:
Backlog

  • Check if any of the instrumentals and vocals for other songs are different compared to their later appearances.

While some of the music exists in the final, there are quite a few removed songs and even vocals for them.

Removed Songs#

Covers new songs that were completely removed in the final. They would all make appearances in later entries.

Visionary#

To do:
Combine the vocals with the song as a mockup.

Visionary, a song that was completely absent from the final, was supposed to be Rinko's image song. This song would later appear in THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA: Funky Note, although none of the idols from 765 Production could be chosen by the player until THE iDOLM@STER ONE FOR ALL.

Instrumental#

Prototype

SHINY FESTA: Funky Note onward

At this point, the instrumental track contains notable differences compared to what's heard in later games:

  • The drums are very different.
  • The organ-like instrument isn't present.

Vocals#

A file for Rinko's vocals are also present.

Vault That Borderline!#

Vault That Borderline! is another removed song. This song was then reused as the theme song for another game, THE iDOLM@STER SHINY FESTA: Honey Sound, about a year and a half later.

The asset contains an instrumental version of the song and vocal data for each idol. However, the files for the three non-playable characters, Ritsuko, Azusa, and Iori, as well as the newly added characters, Julia, Reika, and Rinko, are blank files and contain no audio.

Since it is a rock-style song, it is speculated that it was intended to be the theme song for Julia.

We Have A Dream#

"We Have A Dream" is another removed song. It was later used as the theme song for THE iDOLM@STER LIVE in SLOT!, an entertainment slot machine based on THE iDOLM@STER, about a year and a half later after THE iDOLM@STER 2.

The assets include instrumental versions of the songs and vocal data for all the female idols, except for Julia, Reika, and Rinko, which are blank files.

"HELLO!!"#

"HELLO!!" is a scrapped song which was used in the Nintendo DS game THE iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars, almost a year before this article's prototype build.

The audio assets for this song were left in this build, but were not used in the final version. In the end, the Dearly Stars idols would infamously not appear in this game until the PlayStation 3 version, and this song was not used in another game until THE iDOLM@STER One for All, three and a half years later after the initial release of THE iDOLM@STER 2.

An instrumental version of the version can be found along with song and vocal data covering all the female idols of 765 Production. However, the vocal files are all copies of Ai Hidaka's, and none are new recordings. In addition, Ai's fellow idols, Eri Mizutani and Ryo Akizuki, are also completely absent from the disc.

Existing Songs#

The world is all one!!#

The world is all one!! is a song that is in the final version, but contains vocals for the scrapped characters Julia, Reiko and Rinko.

Notably, this is the only file where Reika's voice can be heard.

i Bad Ending#

i is one of the songs used in THE iDOLM@STER 2. In this game, it is also used in a scene where an idol character sings "I" in front of the protagonist to comfort him when he reaches the ending after performing poorly in the game.

The version of i used in this build is an edited version that adds ambient sounds and pauses, but the song data is different between this build and the final version.

Past Songs#

To do:
What songs are included? Are they different, vocal or instrumental-wise?

The prototype version contains several songs from past iDOLM@STER games that were not used in the final version. Most of these were added later as DLC.
