runnMaze2

This article has a talk page!

This is a sub-page of Proto:Rain World.

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

  • Can someone who knows how to use adobe director open this up and check for unused code?

This is the very first build of the game that would turn into Rain World. Featuring only one arena, and broken controls compared to the final game.

General Differences#

Due to running on Lingo in Adobe Director instead of Unity, the game is far choppier than the final game. There's no sounds at all in this build. Player 1 and player 2 always spawn in the top right and left respectively, with boxes marking their spawnpoints. The level is incredibly barebones and functions as a movement test, with several odd platforms and poles to jump on. The background has a clouds effect not seen in any other build, with a red sun in the back.

Controls#

Movement is very similar to the final, though far more barebones overall. You can crawl in tunnels like the final, but you can't turn around or jump in them. You seemingly can't throw anything, but you can pick them up and drop them. You can crawl along the ground by pushing down once, and perform a long jump by crouching, and pushing jump + left or right.

Objective#

The major objective in runnMaze2 is to bring as many rocks to your box as possible. The player who has the most rocks in their box wins. There are multiple rocks scattered around the arena and both of the players must collect and return all of the rocks in their base, as previously stated.

Debug Keys#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

  • Are there any other debug keys?
  • Left mouse button to remove/place blocks
  • 1 makes left mouse edit the foreground layer
  • 2 makes left mouse edit the background layer
  • V pulls both of the slugcats and rocks to the cursor's location.
  • I speeds up the entire game by 3x.
  • R restarts the game.
  • ESCAPE closes the game.
