A prototype of Primal Rage for the Genesis was released by Forest of Illusion on August 2022.

General Differences#

• The ranking screen, the production credits screen, and the splash screens aren't shown.
• Pressing Start on the title screen immediately brings you to the player select screen.
• The internal ROM header is copied from Mortal Kombat, much like in the Rental Version.
• The character sprites are larger than in the final version.

Title Screen#

In the prototype, the trademark and the blood aren't present. There is also no animation for the logo. There is also a blinking "PUSH START" text, which isn't shown in the final game.
