This refers to Luigi's dialogue in Rogueport. For the Super Luigi books, see the next section. It should be noted that while Luigi's lines are present, his partners' are not, as they are stored in the Rogueport text files (gor_*.txt), which don't exist in this build (as Rogueport is not part of this demo).

Luigi refers to the stories as his stories (ボクの話) in the demo.
かい was added to the end to make this line sound more like a yes/no question.

The Marvelous Compass was originally the Golden Compass (likely renamed to avoid legal issues with that other Golden Compass...).

In the demo, Crepe introduces himself as Minister Crepe on top of calling himself the cabinet minister. This is a bit redundant, so the title was removed in this line.
The line talking about Mario not being there was streamlined a bit.
さらっていた ("is kidnapped", past-ongoing) was changed to さらった ("had kidnapped", past).
が was adjusted to んだけど (both ways of saying "but"/"however", though the latter also has the の explanatory particle)
行ったのか ("vanished") had kanji added.
おさめていた ("gained") was changed to もっていた ("held"/"took").
The furigana/okurigana on 光 ("light") was altered.

The first line was slightly rephrased.
中でも ("most of all") had kanji added.
The giant statue (せのたかい) is described as "hard" (かたい) in the third text box. Likely a correction, since かたい and たかい are very similar.
ちょくげき was changed to めいちゅう (both meaning "direct hit").
Furigana was added to 入れて ("got").

The demo refers to Hizza's heads as kubi (くび), a term that usually means "neck" but can also mean "head" in certain contexts. The final game uses the more standard atama (アタマ) instead.
The compass' name lacks quote marks.

Tweak: 1位 ("1st place") is 1番 ("number 1") in the demo.
An extraneous ellipsis was removed from the third text box
In the demo, the name in quotes is "compass piece". In the final game, the "piece" part was moved outside of the quotes, and the compass is referred to by its full name instead.
I just couldn't believe it!
Imagine! Cheering for
grass! I was ecstatic, Bro!
After that I added the piece
to the Marvelous Compass,
which pointed north.
It pointed to the Rapturous
Ruins in Grimble Forest.
Then... The voice again...
In the demo, Hayzee's "aiming to be a Musical Star" (ミュージカルスターを目ざしてい[る]). In the final game, he's a producer.
The Drama Slam doesn't appear to have a name in the demo; Hayzee simply tells Luigi he can win the piece "on the [Jazzafrazz] Town stage" (ミュージカルタウンのぶたいで) instead.
Tweak and/or typo fix: past-ongoing 見ていてくれてた changed to present-ongoing 見ていてくれる (both meaning "[people who] were watching" in this context).
TODO: Noted as typo fix because I don't think you can repeat ている like that, but I could be wrong.
Again, the word "piece" was taken out of quotes.
The last mention of the Marvelous Compass is just "the compass" in the demo.
Tweak: さししめしていた ("was pointing to") became さししめした ("pointed to").
My swing split the air and

・・・ボク クリキング やっつけたよ
・・・ボク

エクレア姫を めぐる ぼうけんは
ひとまず これで おしまい
エクレア姫を めぐる ぼうけんは
とにかく これで おしまい
I rescued Princess Eclair.
It was all over.
The first two sentences were partially rewritten (TODO: translation).
The second text box starts off similarly to how it does in the localization, with "my hammer" (ボクのハンマー) rather than "[my] strongest attack" (さいしょのこうげき).
Tweak: かえすかたなで ("attacking one opponent immediately after another", or sometimes "counterattack") became すかさず ("immediately"/"promptly").
"I defeated the Chestnut King" was broken up into two lines in the final game.
ひとまず ("for now") was changed to とにかく ("anyhow"). Not reflected in the localization.
Luigi accepted
the part, the
story of the
compass pieces
burned into
his brain.
The boy fulfilled
his duty, and
began to fade
into the blank
nothingness...
-9-
And so, with six
of the parts
united, the compass
would point to the
final part...
Farthest Tower,
at the northernmost
end of the kingdom.
And then, her
voice spoke...
-11-
With six of the
parts united,
the compass now
pointed to the
final part... To
the quest's end...
To Hatesong
Tower. And then,
her voice spoke...
-11-
Rewritten. Hatesong Tower was originally "Farthest Tower" (or possibly "Fahr Tower", in keeping with the localization). This is almost the same as Fahr Outpost's final Japanese name (サイハテ村), which makes it pretty clear why it was renamed.
As seen above, Luigi refers to the area by its final name in his own version of the story, so the early name's occurrence here might have been an oversight.
