Planet Parameters

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:Meteos (Nintendo DS)/Kiosk Demo.

Common Differences#

In General#

  • This kiosk demo uses a slightly earlier version of Meteos' parameter file, labeled as version 0.83 rather than the final's 0.84. The only difference seems to be that several parameters are completely missing; these are the "bottom bonus" Jet parameter, which is a power multiplier for ignitions done on the bottom of a stack, and the "push down meteo", "push down attack", "to attack" and "from defense" Field parameters; the former two determine how much regular Meteos and the opponent's garbage Meteos, respectively, weight down a stack, and the latter two, the attack and defense multipliers of each planet.
  • The absolute frequency of falling Meteos is slightly lower with the speeder enabled.

Main 32#

  • All Rare Metal rates (parameters rate sol and rate tim) have been blanked out in the prototype.
  • It takes longer for the game to reach the "Max" values for the game level and limit parameters.

Available Planets#

Geolyte#

This iteration of planet Geolyte, while having a couple differences in its physics, plays mostly the same as its final Japanese counterpart.

  • Stacks launch a little lower.
  • As with most planets, the burnt Meteo timer is at a fixed rate, and the attack Meteo timer increases as a match goes on.
  • Falling Meteos have a slightly slower speed, but fill the screen faster as a match progresses.
  • Zoo Meteos experience a slightly higher fall rate, while Glow Meteos don't appear at all.

Mekks#

Mekks is one of the planets which has the most noticeable changes:

  • Stacks don't fall at a consistent speed, falling slowly with the speeder off, and much faster with the speeder on. They can also hold on for a while before falling should they be light enough.
  • Most ignitions done inside a stack when it is falling will have no power.
  • Zap Meteos have a slightly higher spawn rate.

  • While the levitation gimmick had already been implemented, it's in a perhaps greatly exaggerated state in which stacks not only fall very slowly without the speeder, but also practically stop when enabling it.
  • Air Meteos experience a higher spawn rate.

Megadom#

  • Stacks are significantly heavier, and also have a much lower maximum rising speed. This can cause consecutive ignitions to not launch at all, despite that the "decreasing power" gimmick had not been implemented yet.
  • Standalone Meteos launch faster.
  • Fire Meteos spawn instead of Herb.
  • The spawn rates for H2O Meteos are slightly higher. Conversely, Air Meteos have lower rates.

Early Meteo?#

Watch on YouTubeCuriously, the parameter files meant for the Star Trip variations of Planet Meteo, as well as the Credits planet, 100/1000 Meteo Time Attack planets, and the How to Play Geolyte, contain a completely different parameter set.
Initial ignitions are oftentimes weak, and the first secondary ignition doesn't launch at all. However, the power increases as more are done, making the main strategy being that of having lots of spare Meteos to ensure stacks launch and exit the screen.
Unlike the regular 32 planets, Soul and Time can spawn in this planet. However, they act as regular Meteos and use the tilesets' otherwise unused textures for them.

2-Minute Time Attack Geolyte#

  • Meteos fill the screen much slower.
  • There's a Garbage cooldown timer despite that it should not be possible for Garbage Meteos to appear in this variation.
  • Stacks launch much faster with the speeder active. They are also slightly slower when falling.
  • Secondary launches are, overall, weaker, but this is compensated by a high combo multiplier.
  • Herb Meteos spawn instead of Air. There are also no rates for Glow Meteos.

100/1000 Meteo Time Attack Planets#

While it was already said that the 100/1000 Meteo Time Attack Planets use the same parameters as the possibly unused planet in Star Trip Meteo's slot, the .csv files contain an interesting detail: it seems the planets used for these modes were going to be Megadom and Bavoom, respectively, instead of Firim and Hevendor.
