This needs some investigation. |
The levels have a decent share of oddities and changes.
Waterpark#
Section 01#
- In the intro, Sid's mouth isn't moving.
- The seal uses a completely different design and pose.
- There are ice platforms in the cave that were removed in the final. These are only seen in the cutscene leading to the cave.
Section 02#
- The ice is less obviously cracked.
- The bushes were changed in terms of design.
Section 03#
- As revealed here, the blue and green shelled bugs were originally killable. These carry over to later in the game.
- The grass bushes with walnuts in them were changed to brown bushes.
- The camera position for talking to the fructose bear Cholly is different for the entire cutscene.
Play Dead#
- The bushes were changed here too.
- When collecting a nut, the nut becomes a walnut as it gets collected, due to using the same sound effect as the walnuts.
Section 04#
- Manny is not present in the bat cave.
The Bat Cave Challenge#
- The Bat Cave Challenge was completely different. Originally, instead of playing a memory game where you pick the bat with the nut, you have to match bats of the same color in a matching game. A sound effect is used here that is unused in the final, when you pick a bat.
Section 05#
Penguin Bowling#
- Occasionally, the miss sound doesn't play when you miss a penguin.
- The penguins don't make any sounds.
- The first shot of the ending is bugged, as the camera is inside a wall.
Eviscerator#
- The intro cutscene is shorter and transitions to the level without a fade-out.
- The gates make a different sound when you pass them.
- Sid doesn't play any voicelines after the flying sections where you do maneuvers by pressing arrows. He doesn't play a voiceline when you go through the dinosaur skeleton either.
Forest#
Section 01#
- The cutscene showing the walnut location with the bouncy web has a much cruder camera.
The Forest Monkey Challenge#
- In the intro, different ground is shown for the area where Scrat fails to get the walnut from the monkey.
- There is no yellow glow when you hit the monkeys.
Section 02#
- The condor chicks do not make sound effects when you hit them.
- Bushes had their designs changed.
- The tree with the zipline has a different texture, and has a missing leaf bush.
- There is no sign before you make it to the rhino and the fructose bear.
- When bringing grapes to the fructose bear, the arrow is placed closer to him. This can make his head clip through the arrow.
- The music is different in the cutscene where the herd comes to the fructose bear because Manny thought he heard a mammoth.
Section 03#
Whack-A-Possum#
- The intro does not have Sid's mouth moving.
- Two bushes were added to the arena.
- The ending cutscene is rather rough. While the script is the same, the camera stays in a specific position the whole time, and Diego and Manny are idling as Sid does the pose he does at the Waterpark intro.
Ice River#
- The textures for the ice platforms were changed.
- Instead of collecting 20 nuts, you collect 20 walnuts.
Maelstrom#
- The cutscene before the eye minigame has different music, and Scrat does not make any sound effects.
Mud Bog#
Section 01#
- A cutscene is present at the start which was removed in the final. It shows Scrat looking around at the mud bog.
Section 02#
- The music when you put an egg in the right nest has a slight but noticeable difference.
Section 03#
- The camera for all of the cutscenes is very different, along with the animations the starts make. The only cutscene with its final cutscene is when you make a start move towards the end of a cliff.
- The dodos do not make sounds when you hit them.
Start Says#
(Note that this name is not official, and is for the starts' memory game)
- Instead of jumping out of the mud and back in, the starts just spin their noses. They also don't make any sound.
- The sound for moving the arrow is slightly higher pitched.
Section 04#
- In the intro to the spider queen boss, Scrat's scream is different and off-timed, and the spider queen doesn't make any sounds except for her crawling.
Section 05#
- The swamp birds do not play sound effects.
Sloth Village#
Section 01#
- In the cutscene before the digging minigame, Crash's mouth isn't moving.
- The camera for the digging minigame is slightly more zoomed in than the final.
- When finishing the digging minigame, Crash's mouth still isn't moving.
- The design of the plants at the locked door to the sacred beacon is different.
Section 02#
- While these are mainly in the voicelines, the personality of the purple totem sloth was changed from being a regular sloth like the others to acting like a stoner.
- In the cutscenes with the green chili sloth, his mouth doesn't move. The ending also has a sound effect not being played.
Section 03#
- The purple totem sloth is also here too, with his early personality.
- The effect of Scrat's tail on fire looks different.
- The camera when you collect the walnut is more rudimentary, similarly to Forest 01.
Section 04#
- The cutscene before it has the music from Sloth Village 01 playing. Scrat's mouth is also bugged, and Sid's mouth doesn't move.
- Carried over from the previous section, the effect for when Scrat's tail is on fire looks different.
- The camera for collecting all walnuts is different, zooming into the scurry hole instead of showing the location it is in.
Section 05#
- In the cutscenes, the rope Sid is being held by is untextured and black.
- At the end, when Sid enters the scurry hole, instead of the game cutting to the next level, it lets you go to the scurry hole and enter it before going to the next level. Sid's mouth also doesn't move.
Glacier#
Section 01#
- All grass bushes were changes to brown bushes.
- The music does not change as you make it to the last section, staying the same throughout.
Section 02#
- A cutscene for pulling out a nut and angering Diego had an extra shot added in the final, showing the rising water.
Section 03#
- The design of the eggshells is different.
- The ice intended to be broken by the mammoth is more transparent.
- Three brown bushes got repositioned.
- The cutscene of the mammoth getting freed has different music. There are also no sound effects.
