This is a sub-page of Proto:Guitar Hero II (PlayStation 2)/Late 2006 Retail Demo.
All of the venues that feature in the final version of Guitar Hero II are fully playable in the retail demo, if career mode is patched. Visually, most are final as well, though camera angles tend to differ.
Venues are also much less optimized in the demo. Frame drops on the larger venues are especially common.
Battle of the Bands#
Watch on YouTubeThe Battle of the Bands venue has texturing differences, especially on the walls. The venue appears brighter as a result. The venue's strobe effect is much faster as well.
The Rat Cellar#
Watch on YouTubeThe Rat Cellar is less detailed, and some of the camera angles are different. Some don't feature the guitarist at all, such as one focusing on the singer and bassist.
Rock City Theater#
Watch on YouTubeThe Detroit Rock City Theater venue is named the Republik Theater in the demo, which was the name of the theater venue in Guitar Hero. Some of the camera angles in the venue are different from the final game, notably the fly-in at the start of each song.
Vans Warped Tour#
Watch on YouTubeDifferent camera angles, such as a glitchy headstock view during solos and more wide views. At one point during testing, Clive Winston hung over the edge of the stage on his back, but got back up immediately. This can be seen at 2:12 in the video to the right.
Harmonix Arena#
Watch on YouTubeCamera angles are slightly different (an even glitchier headstock view, for instance, that occasionally cuts into the guitarist's waist), and the drummer uses the trashed kit model from the Battle of the Bands venue instead of the nicer, larger one in the final game.
Stonehenge#
Watch on YouTubeThe UFO outside the venue is totally static. Some really rather bizarre camera angles occur, such as one of the guitarist's legs and another that cuts into the character during solos. The venue fly-in at the start of each song is different too.
