This page details one or more prototype versions of Freedom Planet 2.

The Sample Version of Freedom Planet 2 was released on December 14, 2017 as essentially a teaser for the long-awaited full game.

Music Differences#

Dragon Valley#

The pre-v1.0.7 version is a bit unfinished and is missing some instruments of the song.

Unused Graphics#

To do: There's a ton of unused of graphics here that the developers didn't bother to shave off. For example, button icons for Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U (Switch?) character portraits.

Miscellaneous#

Presumably the old version of the air meter that is used to signal how much air the character has underwater.

Sprites for Shades. Most likely indifferent from the final release.

Gong#

Early sprite sheet for fighting against Gong in his training course.

AAA#

Early sprite sheet for AAA with simpler shading and a few missing sprites.

World Map#

Graphics for the world map, which isn't in this build of the game. It appears to be much simpler compared to what more recent builds have shown off.

Avian Museum#

Early tileset for the Avian Museum. This includes a number of differences from the retail release; such as an early underground background (which can be seen in numerous official pre-release footages, e.g. here); a starry sky, which's use is currently unknown; on the left side, the pushable stone block from FP1, possibly a leftover.

Unused Music#

M_Invincibility.wav#

You might say that this demo has no invincibility powerup, and you'd be right. This song actually originated in early prototypes of Freedom Planet, where it also ended up unused.
