0219 Prototype

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:Fire Emblem (Game Boy Advance).

To do:

  • The Conqueror's Proof/Ocean Seal is present in this prototype but not 0206, document it
  • The size of chapter data table entries is 4 bytes larger than 0206, what was added there?

The newer of the two Fire Emblem prototypes. This prototype is timestamped as February 19th, 2003, at 10:10PM putting its assembling a mere two months before release. It is overall really close to the final release, but it does feature plenty of different graphics and other differences from final and the earlier prototype.

The prototype can be pretty much played start to finish, and has the vast majority of, if not all, story dialogue and scenes implemented.

Text Updates Compared to 0206#

  • Karel/Dart support conversation text added.
  • Rebecca/Will support conversation text added.

Paul & Jasmine#

Paul's and Jasmine's help descriptions are longer in 0219 than 0206, specifically to clarify that Jasmine is the older brother and Paul the younger and that they both dote on each other. This was reverted back to their 0206 forms for the final release.

Their portraits are different also. With the addition (and subsequent re-subtraction from final) of a small tattoo.

Graphics#

Several of the newly implemented weapons and items still use placeholder graphics (generally shared with other items). Some items also have different names and designs than final.

Merlinus#

Work-in-progress versions of Merlinus's graphics used during his promotion scene in the final game are present. These appear to be unused as of this revision as Merlinus is not yet able to be added to the party. This particular graphic appears to only be present in the 0219 revision. They have 仮 (temporary) written on them.

Debugging Functions#

A few debug features are exclusive to 0219, since 0206 lacks access to most items in the Extras menu including the Link Arena, Battle History, and Fuuin no Tsurugi linkup.

This seems to be more of a glitch than actual debug feature, but when in the Link Arena menu press R, and the game will go to the Fuuin no Tsurugi linkup screen. This doesn't seem to do anything useful and produces odd glitches, where pressing B functionally returns to the Link Arena menu but with the linkup screen's graphics.
